Yayas and Helpers: Stay-In vs Live Out
Here are some points to consider on whether to hire a stay-in yaya versus a live out yaya.by Tisha C. Bautista .
Deciding whether or not you need a “full-time stay-in staffer” or a “part-time stay-out staffer” is dependent on many factors. Reaching that decision can be a truly daunting task. Here are some things to consider:
1. Budget Constraints
On a monthly salary basis, it is obviously more expensive to hire full-time help. However, there are “hidden costs” to consider as well. A part-time/stay-out staffer has other expenses that may need to be covered. Apart from a fixed daily rate, a “transportation allowance” should be accounted for. Some people separate this consideration so as to make the staffer recognize the distinction. In addition, food is assumed provided for within the day depending on the length of her job. Some households provide three square meals, while others only two plus a snack. It is dependent on your discretion. In addition, because the arrangement is only “part-time”, SSS benefits are not usually extended.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWCONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended VideosFor a full-time staffer, compensation packages usually include the salary plus benefits such as SSS and for some, PAGIBIG benefits. Board and lodging, food and sometimes toiletries are also provided. However, you have the benefit of having someone with you 24 hours a day.
2. Lifestyle Constraints
The distinction between a live-out and a stay-in staffer is often determined by the lifestyle of the employers. Some households don’t like staffers in their homes when they are not around while others prefer it. It can also happen that they are ok to have a few at home but not too many. Hence, they employ a combination of stay-in as well as stay-out staffers. Which one are you?
