As lockdown restrictions ease and offices, restaurants, and stores reopen, we're all coming face-to-face with the “new normal.” Keeping our families safe during this new period should be a top priority, as well as team effort.
Of course, this includes your dogs, too, who are a part of the family. They need care and protection, just as the rest of your family does.
Here are some collaborative tips for keeping your family (dogs included!) safe in the new normal:
Set up sanitation stations
Sanitizing is key to keeping viruses out of our homes. Set up a sanitation station outside every entrance of the house with rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant spray.
Encourage the members of your family, and anyone who may need to come over, to sanitize their hands thoroughly. This prevents any outside germs and viruses from spreading to the doorknobs. You should also wash your pet’s paws with mild soapy water before letting them enter the house.
Don’t walk inside with your shoes on
COVID-19 spreads via respiratory droplets, and many of these fall to the ground. This means shoes are potential risk factors. While the floor may not be a high-touch area for humans, it certainly is for pets.
Keep all surfaces of your home clean and safe for every member of your family by taking off your shoes before entering the house and encouraging your family members to do the same.
Go on walks with your pet and family
Humans and animals all need a little exercise to keep our hearts happy and our immunity systems strong. If you have dogs, consider going on a walk with them and the rest of the family for thirty minutes to two hours every day.
Walking is a great form of low-impact exercise, making it safe for people of all ages. Stick to open spaces like parks and avoid crowded areas. Remember to wear a mask and face shield, and to keep at least two meters away from other people and animals (you may need to keep your dogs on a leash).
Stock up on healthy food for everyone
A balanced diet is an important part of maintaining a functioning immune system. When going to the supermarket, be sure to buy fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins for the humans in your family, and a nutrient-dense, protein-rich dog food for your dogs, like PURINA SUPERCOAT.
Made with no artificial colors, PURINA SUPERCOAT uses SMARTBLEND, a tailored blend of nutrients specifically designed to give your animal companion all essential nutrients he needs to keep strong and healthy.
The United States FDA encourages people to buy one to two weeks’ worth of food at a time, so be sure to have your shopping list ready!
Now more than ever, it is crucial that everyone collaborates to keep the family—human and animal alike—safe, healthy, and #SuperTogether.
