12-Year-Old Na May 5 Degree Ang Pinakabatang Graduate Ng US College, Isinabay Sa Homeschooling

Si Clovis Hung, 12 anyos, ay gumawa ng history bilang “youngest person ever” na nagtapos with five college degrees mula sa Fullerton College sa California, USA.

Ang lima niyang Associate of Arts degrees ay ang sumusunod: History, Social Sciences, Social Behavior and Self-Development, Arts and Human Expression, at Science and Mathematics, ayon sa Fullerton College site.
Siyam na taon lamang si Clovis nang magsimulang mag-aral sa kolehiyo.

“I feel proud of myself. Hard work has finally paid off,” hayag ng bata. Ang sabi ni Song Choi, ina ni Clovis, matalino at bibo ang kanyang anak kaya noong nine years old ito, pinatigil ang anak sa traditional school at isinailalim sa homeschooling noong 2019.

Dahil nakita ang interes ng anak sa pag-aaral, ipinasok ni Song Choi si Clovis sa “special admit” program ng Fullerton College. Isinabay ni Clovis ang kanyang homeschooling curriculum habang naka-enroll sa Fullerton.

May karanasan sa pagtuturo at pagtu-tutor si Song Choi kaya nagabayan niya si Clovis sa pagpili ng “best suited” curriculum at college courses sa Fullerton. Madali ring nakapag-adjust si Clovis kasama ang mga classmates, sabi ng kanyang professor.

Sabi ng Biology Professor na si Kenneth Collins, “At first, I was a little worried about how he would relate to the other students given the age and developmental differences.” Naglaho raw ang pag-aalala ni Collins nang makita niyang mabilis makasundo ni Clovis kasama ang classmates niya.

“Clovis has been a great mixture of ‘kid’ and college student. He is mature enough that the other students take him seriously, but enough of a kid that they look after him like a younger brother and cheer him on.”

Mabilis ding nakuha ni Clovis ang respeto ng kanyang mga guro dahil sineryoso niya ang kanyang pag-aaral at nakakakuha ng mataas na grado. Ginanap ang commencement exercises ni Clovis at ng 900 pang newly grads noong May 20, 2023.

Balak ipagpatuloy ni Clovis ang pagkuha ng STEM classes sa Fullerton College, hanggang maging handa na siya para mag-apply naman sa university. Kabilang sa mga pinag-iisipan niyang degrees ay commercial piloting, medicine, at aerospace.

“I feel really proud of what I’ve accomplished so far,” sabi ng bata. “I also just joined the Civic Air Patrol and hope to get my pilot license at age 16.”
