  • The old and often spot-on advice of "sleep when your baby sleeps" really didn't suit Los Angeles-based photographer Laura Izumikawa. In fact, we could say she downright dismissed it and instead saw an opportunity--a creative outlet, if you will--during her four-month-old daughter's nap time.

Unlike other babies who can be squirmy and will cry at the slightest movement, Laura's daughter, Joey Marie Choi, slept so soundly that Laura could actually dress her up and take photographs, a feat not a lot of parents would dare do. Initially, it was all just for fun (we bet Laura was also looking for something to do to relax).

"I thought it’d be fun adding little props on her just to send some hilarious pictures to our parents. It was a way to memorialize her growth and little milestones," she tells The Huffington Post. The props and costumes she used for the photos were just lying around in the house and sometimes she would borrow items from friends, if needed.

Being the professional photographer that she is, Laura decided to raise it up a notch when she transformed her little mini-me into the pop singer Sia, complete with her signature blonde wig that covers almost half of her face. Suffice to say, there was no going back after this photograph. Look!

    Here’s Joey as Sia.

Laura had transformed Joey into several other iconic characters such as Ariel of The Little Mermaid, guitarist Slash of Guns N' Roses, George of the Jungle, rapper Run DMC, Cinderella, NBA team lakers cheerleader, Wayne of Wayne's World, and more! She even posts behind-the-scenes of dressing up her daughter for each shoot.

Laura said Joey has woken up a couple of times. That's when it's really hard not to laugh, Laura tells Buzzfeed, when her little one opens her eyes, looks at her dazed or sometimes smiles, and then she just goes right back to sleep. Watch:

Since Joey had become an Instagram star, Laura's account now has 148,000 followers. "I hope that these photos and videos will make people smile and also remind parents to have fun with their kids and not get too caught up in the seriousness of parenting,” Laura says. She also hopes that someday Joey will see her photos and feel all the love people all over the Internet had sent her.

As of this writing, Laura has posted over 50 photos of little Joey in costumes. Keep on dreamin', Joey -- so your momma can post more of your cute pictures!
