In a world where judgment and hatred just seem to sprout, well, everywhere, it's nice to know that there are good, kind-hearted people who choose to spread positive vibes in their own little ways--and teach their kids by example to do the same. Actions truly speak louder than words--kids remember more what they see you do than what you tell them to.
Beauty turned mom vlogger (video blogger) Judy Gutierrez Travis, 30, is a proud Filipina who was raised in Seattle, Washington. "Being Filipina is something that I’m very proud of. It’s a pride that is not forced on me or was even taught to me. It is a feeling that comes naturally with such a family-oriented culture," she writes on TheFilAm.net. She had grown up knowing that family always comes first, and her parents made sure she and her sister got to visit the Philippines so they could get to know their heritage.
Judy now has three kids, Julianna, who is turning 4 this October, and 2-year-old twins Miyako and Keira, with husband Benji. She wants to raise her kids with the same upbringing her Pinoy parents gave her, and that includes exposing them to the concept of giving back. Judy is an advocate of Convoy of Hope where the goal is to feed the world through children's feeding initiatives, community outreach, and disaster response. "This is a cause that is dear to my heart especially with three little ones of my own. Another reason this organization is important to me this year especially is that they specifically serve the Philippines as one of their focus countries,“ she said.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWWhat other parents are reading
Just this week, Judy uploaded a video on her Facebook Its Judy Time where she shows Julianna a vlog from her and Benji's recent visit to the country. With the help of Convoy of Hope, they went to a small village in northern Luzon to give supplies and food to underprivileged kids. "This is Julianna's reaction after seeing our footage of the children living in poverty," she wrote. Watch below.
"They don't have pajamas," Julianna commented, and she cried when she saw the underprivileged kids lining up to get something to eat. Then, Julianna went to her room to show Judy the stuff in her closet drawers that she wanted to give the kids. "I want to give them all that," the little girl said to her mom. Julianna and Judy started sorting out her used clothes and toys for the needy Filipino children. Later on, her sisters helped, too. (You can watch the full vlog Judy uploaded on her YouTube here.)

The video has racked up more than 3.6 million views and has been shared more than 64,000 times. One of the comments read: "I was so moved at how Julianna at such a young age understood the situation of the children in the Philippines and was willing to give away all her things to the children in need." Another user wrote, "I totally cried… So inspiring to see Julianna’s heart and generosity."
As for Judy, she says in her vlog, "I'm so proud of her. I could already picture her playing with the kids." She and Benji plans to come back to the Philippines to help more kids, and maybe even bring their daughters to learn more about their Filipino culture and give them the chance to personally give back to the impoverished communities here."Being Filipina is simple to me. It’s about family and giving. That’s it. I’m so thankful to my parents Albert and Nini Gutierrez for raising me to understand this. Also to my extended family who were always there to support me," Judy said. We bet Julianna and her sisters would feel the same way when they grow up.
