I’ve stopped watching the evening news a long time ago. Anyone who’s seen the headlines these days will agree that they’re enough to drive anyone mad and hopeless — which, my gut tells me, is exactly how a lot of people feel these days.
Instead, I scroll through Instagram for pretty pictures, which, I have to admit, one needs to take with a grain of salt. But my favorite thing to look at aren’t pictures of food or scenic views, or nice dresses or accessories. I’d rather read heartwarming short stories of good deeds done for one human being by another. And I don’t mean grand gestures of charity; oftentimes, it’s the little acts of kindness and selfless deeds that make the most impact.
If you’re having a rough start of the week and need a little pick-me-up, or are holding your breath to restore your faith in humanity, these posts (whether fact or fiction) from Instagram account Upworthy might help.
