  • The Year 2021 has been challenging for Jennica Garcia and Alwyn Uytingco. They hit a rough patch in their seven-year marriage, which eventually led to their temporary separation in May. But the head of the family of four soon started making moves to patch things up with his wife.

By December, Jennica and Alwyn appeared to be on the road to reconciliation when they guest starred in GMA-7's talk-variety show Mars Pa More. They participated in the "Tough-Patan" segment, in which they asked each other questions and got encouragement from hosts Camille Prats and Kim Atienza.

First off, Alwyn asked Jennica: "If you have one million pesos, magkano ang porsiyento ko d’yan?" But when Jennica quickly replied, "Ten percent," Alwayn clarified his question. He said, "No, seriously, if you have that kind of money, where will you put it or spend it?"

Jennica also made a clarification. "Nagpapatawa lang ako," she said, and went on addressing her husband. "I will entrust with you the money because you know I’m not good with our finances. I’ll entrust that the Lord will guide where to put it. I trust your wisdom more."

Then Jennica proceeded with her question, "We’re nearing our 12 years together, ano ’yung ugali ko na hindi mo alam na ugali ko pala? Puwedeng good or bad."

Looking at her slender better-half, Alwyn quipped, "Matakaw ka." To which, Camille confirmed: "Sobrang takaw ni Jennica. I can attest to that. Nagbabaon pa s’ya ng lutuan na sarili n’ya."

    No more kids?

Then came a serious question from Alwyn. "Papayag ka ba na magkaroon pa tayo ng isa pang anak?" Jennica didn't skip a beat and said, "No." The couple have two daughters: Mori and Alessi.

"Ako na ang magtatanong," she announced. "I know you want a boy, but you know I cannot do it anymore. Are you willing to undergo vasectomy?"

Alwyn also didn't skip a beat and said, "Yes." But added with a laugh, "Basta kasama ko si Kuya Kim." The host readily agreed, "Ako ang bahala sa ’yo." Until Alwyn pointed out, "Sa loob ng operating room." Then Kuya Kim reconsidered his reply, chuckling, "Huwag na, ayokong makita."

    Kilig overload

Alwyn turned back to Jennica to ask, "Kung isang K-drama ang buhay mo, anong title ’yan?" She mentioned Go Back Home, sending kilig to the hosts as those words say so much about the status of the couple's relationship.

More kilig came when Jennica asked her husband, "Ano ’yung ginagawa ko na pag ginagawa ko ’yun, nararamdaman mo na mahal kita?"

Alwyn replied, "Kapag nagluluto ka ng food for me ’tapos di ko sinabi. Wala naman akong binanggit. But every time you give time in preparing food for us, lalo na sa madaling araw, sobrang special ’yan."

He then asked his wife what she would be doing if she didn't take up acting in movies and TV series. She said she would probably be a "mananahi," as she really wanted to make dolls. In fact, she opened a shop in 2017, but two years later, she closed it down. She has plans of reopening, though.

The last question for both was about the gift they would like to receive this Christmas. Alwyn said, addressing his wife. "Simple lang, ikaw. Promise, wala na akong hihilingin na gift. After ng lahat ng nangyari this year, and now we’re here again. The idea of us being together again, parang gano’n. Okay na ’ko."

Jennica responded with the same simplicity and sincerity: "You know naman na when you left, that’s all I’ve been praying for. I just really need more time. But you know that I love you."

Then Alwyn walked up to Jennica to hug and give a peck on his wife's cheek. They may soon prove to all and sundry that love is sweeter the second time around, indeed.
