"Alam mo, grabe!" the equally attractive actress tells SmartParenting.com.ph when teased about having someone known for his good looks. "Minsan may mga days talaga na parang mas gwapo pa siya, 'tapos biglang naligo, mas gwapo pa ulit. Parang 'Ano ba 'to?'
Aubrey & Troy as #relationshipgoals
Aubrey, 41, points out in our exclusive online interview that Troy, 50, is more than his good looks. She says with evident admiration, "The more na nag-e-age siya, the more na he wants more challenging. Parang gusto niya everything's happy.
"And then, 'yung look niya ngayon parang mas bumata siya. He's not trying too hard. He likes his weight now. He likes working out. Mas focused siya ngayon. Sabi niya, 'Parang I feel like I'm back in my 20s,' na pursigido talaga siyang mag-work out.
"Ewan ko. Ang galing! Galing! And every morning if you see someone na gwapo, mabait, responsible, supportive, di ba? Ano pang i-a-ask natin, di ba?"
But, wait, there's more: "Nagluluto pa kung anong gusto ko 'tapos bibigyan ako ng tubig every morning. Pag lingon ko sa side table ko may tubig. 'Oh, okay!' Alam niya talaga every morning I want water pag nakakalimutan ko."
Aubrey shares the secret to their long-lasting relationship: "Basta kailangan talagang keep each other happy. And kailangan do your responsibility and show them na you have fair duties. Actually minsan kahit mas lamang siya, nag-e-enjoy naman siya.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
"And also, timing. Perfect timing lang siguro talaga 'yung time na naging kami. Kasi sabi niya nga kung siguro nag-meet kami nang medyo younger age siya 'tapos ako, I'm so busy, we might not have work. It just really the time, perfect time."
Aubrey admits, though, that she's surprised that Troy turned out to be a devoted and hands-on dad to their kids Hunter, 13, and Rocket, 3, as well as to her first-born child Maurie, 20.
She recalls, "Pag nakikita ko siya with his mom, no'ng wala pa kaming baby, talagang feeling ko...Sabi ko, 'Parang mama's boy 'to.' Pero very caring sa babae kasi sanay siya [sa] mom niya, [then] puro sisters, surrounded by the girls. So alam niya 'yung respect.
"I swear, alam niya 'yung respeto sa babae na parang sabi ko, 'Okay 'to.' Saka very ano siya, gentle with girls. Even with guys, kung nire-respect niya yung girls, sa guys din, parang alam niya how to take care of girls. Even mga tita, tito ko, talagang 'Uy, Troy!' mabait kasi yan, very ano, gentle."CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
Aubrey says she and Troy have "same but different" parenting styles. She explains, "Same because we like it parang 'Just do what you like.' Pag alam naming safe 'yung environment, safe 'yung area, place, do whatever you want.
"And in our house, basta we, especially with Rocket, we kept it child-proof. So, we feel, like, kahit pumunta siya sa corner, okay siya do'n. We don't have to worry about. But with Hunter naman, for a boy, si Troy parang 'I can't wait to go biking, go hiking with ano,' parang American.
"Parang they want them to be like them na they hike, they go running. So nagawa niya 'yun with Hunter. And Hunter naman, of course, enjoyed it. Until now, he still likes biking kahit hindi sila sabay, 'yung ganun.
"With Rocket naman, different naman siya. Si Troy medyo a little bit strict siguro dahil a little girl, feeling niya ang soft-soft. And then, hindi naman kami nagba-bike ni Rocket.
"Pero me and Rocket, kaming dalawa pag naglaro, oh my God! Para kaming lalaking dalawa. Tino-throw ko siya sa bed. 'Tapos tuwang-tuwa siya, tatalon siya sa akin. 'Tapos umiikot kami. 'Tapos hinahagis...Parang ako 'yung daddy. 'Tapos si Troy, 'No! No! Take care of her!' Sabi ko 'It's okay! It's okay!'"
Aubrey acknowledges that she's the stricter parent in their house, saying "Si Troy, medyo giving pa rin. So parang he believes na, 'You know what, as long as they're good kids, kahit na makulit sila, okay lang. Basta hindi nananakit ng tao.'"ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
She goes on sharing a bit about Troy's childhood: "Sabi niya nga, 'I was a naughty boy. I didn't care. But, I learned.' And hindi naman porket spoiled siya no'ng bata siya, hindi siya lumaking spoiled. So sabi niya, 'Don't worry, lalaki sila, matututo sila.'"
