Dimples Romana is known and lauded for bringing to life each role she plays onscreen, whether on TV and in film. Offscreen, she's happily married to her old friend Boyet Ahmee and a doting mom to their three kids Callie, Alonzo, and Elio.
But what happens if Dimples brings home, so to speak, some of her iconic characters? She tells Smart Parenting in a fun interview who among her family members match those fictional personalities.
Boyet Ahmee as Krizzy
Dimples thinks her husband Boyet is a lot like Krizzy, her character in the well-loved romance movie One More Chance (2007) and its sequel, A Second Chance (2015). Krizzy is the one her barkada, led by Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz) and Basha (Bea Alonzo), runs to for wise words and advice.
"Boyet's always been my listening ear," says Dimples. "Especially when we were starting our, ano, our relationship. He was a friend of mine before we got together...He always has really, you know, wisdom to share it to me only because he's also older than me. Boyet is about eight years my senior."
She adds, "Maski sa barkada niya, 'yung parang siya ung nilalapitan kapag hinihingan ng advice. Pag nag-aaway sila, siya 'yung pinupuntahan. So kadalasan kapag nag-aaway kami, siya din 'yung pinupuntahan ko."
Callie as Faith
Dimples sees in her 19-year-old panganay Callie her Faith character in the drama series Huwag Kang Mangamba (2021). Both are free-spirited, she says, and have the tendency to go against the tide.
Dimples goes on describing Callie, "She's not somebody who conforms into a box. Just because she is the anak of an artista, she felt the pressure to be one? Hindi niya naramdaman' yun at hindi ko rin pinaramdam sa kanya 'yun. Kaya hindi rin siya nag-fall into that kind of path."

Dimples can't help matching her middle child and first son Alonzo to her Babaylan role in the drama-fantasy series Bagani (2018). For starters, the Babaylan, or shaman, dances a storm for the portal to another world opens and the 8-year-old dances with so much passion.
Dimples points out, too, that the Babaylan is a healer. "And that Alonzo was for me. He healed every single one I had the moment that I had him. I think at the moment, Boyet and I were really having a rough, rough marriage talaga, and we were, I think, almost gonna give up on one another until Alonzo came along."
Elio as Kakay Sicat
Dimples recalls finding out she was pregnant with her bunso Elio while playing Kakay Sicat in the drama series Viral Scandal (2021). Just like her "very feisty" character, she could already tell as early as then that the baby boy would grow up to be just as brave and strong.
As a mother, she says , "mararamdaman mo 'yung character ng mga bata kapag in tune ka sa katawan mo." So Mama Dimples knew what great things are in store after giving birth to Elio on June 24, 2022.
As for Dimples's most recognizable character, Daniela Mondragon, there's noone in her family as mean as the main antagonist in the teleserye, Kadenang Ginto (2018 to 2022). But she admits to have learned a lot from playing the contravida, particularly in owning several businesses, including a restaurant in Singapore.
