A month since news of her split with Paolo Contis erupted, LJ Reyes says forgiving him is not a matter of if but when.
In a recent interview on GMA 7's 24 Oras, LJ admitted that forgiving Paolo is not an easy thing to do and definitely not something you can rush.
"Ang forgiveness is a work in progress, you know? Hindi madali ibigay ang forgiveness, e 'di ba? You forgive people to forgive yourself or whoever."
Although it may take time, LJ says that through her faith, she is willing to allow herself to move past the failed relationship to the point that she can already forgive Paolo.
"You pray about it. For me, hindi kasi siya madaling bagay na ibigay. So surrender lang talaga kay God and I'm working on it," LJ adds.
As a background, it was on September 1, 2021, when LJ first publicly addressed her breakup with Paolo. At this point, LJ and her kids, Aki and Summer, are already in the United States. In her interview with Boy Abunda, LJ recounted how Paolo started to drift away from her and her kids. (Read about LJ's tell-all interview here)
“Parang nasa ibang mundo na po siya, at parang pakiramdam ko e iniintay niya lang na manggaling sa akin.” LJ said.
For his part, Paolo admitted being unfaithful to LJ during the span of their 5-year relationship.
"Aaminin ko, naging marupok at gago ako sa ilang taon naming pagsasama," Paolo said.
The actor also said he hopes that he and LJ can talk again about co-parenting their two-year-old daughter Summer.
