  • God and respect for each other — these are the primary ingredients in the 12-year marriage of actress Danica Sotto to cager Marc Pingris. The wife and mom of two stressed how important it is for couples to honor each other to keep the relationship intact.

"Si Marc, nirerespeto ko yung pagiging head of the family niya, ganun din siya sa akin na he makes me feel secure as a wife," she said in a taped interview on GMA's Unang Balita yesterday, February 19, 2020.

Though both their parents are separated — or maybe because of it — Danica and Marc cherish their marriage and their two kids even more, and do all they can to enrich these blessings. Simple acts of love, for example, mean a lot.

"Board games, tagu-taguan, wrestling," was Marc's reply when prompted about the family's usual bonding activities.

Danica was quick to add, "Pero hindi ako sumasama dun (wrestling) kasi masakit. Ang lalaki nila!"

Marc stands 6 feet 4 inches while Danica's height is 5 feet. He teases her, "Paano yan, 10 years from now, ikaw na lang ang maliit sa atin?" Their kids Michel, 11,and Caela, 7, are also growing up fast —and tall— like their dad.

"Si Marc kahit pagod na, nakikipaglaro siya sa mga bata, kahit mga 10 minutes, 15 minutes," she adds to illustrate how generous Marc is of his time when it comes to family.

This act of love extends to their siblings and parents, too. Danica frequently meets up with her father Vic Sotto's side of the family to celebrate special occasions (or often, just because).

She also constantly writes about her gratitude for her mom Dina Bonnevie on her social media account.

At least once a year, Marc, Danica, and the kids troop to Marc's hometown in Pozzorubio, Pangasinan, to celebrate the holidays with Marc's mother Erlinda. Last Christmas, Marc's French father Jean Marc, Sr. was also able to join them in their celebration.

Danica and Marc ended the Unang Balita segment by expressing their gratitude for each other.

"Ganun ka pa din, makulit ka pa din, malambing ka pa din, kolokoy ka pa din, pero yung pagka-hardworking mo hindi nawawala," Danica said of Marc.

Marc, in return, said, "Ang dami kong gustong pasalamatan sa iyo. Thank you sa pagtuturo mo sa akin, sa mga masarap mong mga luto sa akin. Grateful talaga ako na ikaw yung binigay ni Lord sa akin."
