Tired Of Hubby Always Escaping To The Toilet? Make Bathroom Breaks Go Faster With A TimerWhat do they do in there, really?by Kitty Elicay .
We can all agree that the bathroom has become a sanctuary for moms trying to get precious me-time whenever the kids start driving them crazy. Unfortunately, the same tactic is used by their husbands — how many women have been driven up to the wall because their hubbies take too long in the toilet? What are they doing inside besides the bowel movement part?
If you’re feeling frustrated about your partner’s extended bathroom breaks, this handy ‘Toilet Timer’ might be the key to get him out of the toilet faster. The moment he slips into the restroom, flip the timer so he will be “inspired” (read: pressured) to hurry up with his break.
Developed by American company Katamco, the hour-glass type timer “is for the poo-crastinator taking their sweet time,” according to the product description. “This is a sand timer that runs for about five minutes. Help your loved one get back to the people they are trying to avoid.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The timer is currently being sold at Amazon for $14.99 (around Php759) as a “funny stocking stuffer for men, dads, and husbands,” and of course, dads got a kick out of it!
“It made my time more enjoyable in the bathroom. I did have to restart it several times to get my game time in. The special touch of the gold pooper and great hair on this thing is amazing! I don’t know how I went so many years without one of these, my bathroom décor is finally complete!” read one review.
But while most of the people who bought the timer think it’s a hilarious gift, they also could not vouch for how effective it is. “This is a cute novelty item, but unfortunately, it doesn’t inspire my husband to move things along any faster. I swear, he sits in there and waits for poop to form in his colon,” wrote a reviewer named Amy Ell.CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
“Funny stocking stuffer for my husband who likes to camp out in the bathroom,” wrote a reviewer named Lisa. “The family got a good laugh on it, too — too bad my hubby isn’t actually using it!”
Though you wouldn’t be able to guarantee that hubby will speed things along when you start the timer, he’ll surely get the hint. And it’s not just for dad, by the way — you can also use it for older kids who hog the bathroom! Oh, and there’s a cheaper alternative, too: You can use the timer on your mobile phone and then knock on the bathroom door when the time runs out. Inspiring fear using your mom voice — that could be more effective, actually.
But before you nag dad for taking too long in the bathroom, take note of this recent study that may explain the reason behind his extended potty break: a survey of 1,000 British men found that, on average, they spend seven hours a year in the bathroom for the “specific reason of taking refuge from their families,” The Independent reports.
One-third of the men surveyed admitted that they use the bathroom as a “getaway place for quiet time,” and “when their other half is ‘nagging’ them and to avoid the children.”
Just like you, dad treats the bathroom as a sanctuary, so maybe the two of you can reach a compromise when it comes to bathroom breaks? Good luck!
