Generosity is contagious especially during the holidays. This is the season when we are all excited to buy presents for our loved ones and are tempted to go out for some Christmas shopping. As a result, we tend to spend more than we should. For moms who at times tend to overspend, here are some tips on how you can control your spending and save on your holiday purchases:
1. Set a price limit.
Prevent overspending by planning ahead and setting reasonable boundaries while prioritizing quality. Also, review carefully on how much money you are going to allocate on your purchases this year.
2. Shop around.
Before making a purchase, look for other options and be sure to compare prices and the quality of the same product. You can save big by doing so.
3. Use cash instead of credit card.
When you shop with cash, you can monitor the money you spend. Once you are out of cash, and already bought everything on your budget list, then you are done with this year’s holiday shopping. However, if you still prefer to swipe with your credit card, be smart and in control in using it.
4. Use shopping apps.
There are benefits to buying online, such as discounts and special shopping deals. Some online shops offer ‘shop-back’ incentives, wherein you can also gain and save money when purchasing their products.
5. Do not ‘over give’.
It is not necessary to buy presents for everyone you know. Instead, you can consider creating homemade or handcrafted gifts that they will appreciate and cherish more. Remember, it’s not about the price; it’s the thought that counts.
