‘A Million Roses for the World’ Project Begins Today
Today marks the start of A Million Roses for the World, a campaign initiated by the Family Rosary Crusade to encourage all Catholic Filipinos, living in the Philippines and in other parts of the world, to pray the rosary for world peace.
Launched last September 8 with celebrity rosary devotees Lucy Torres-Gomez, Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez and Kris Aquino in attendance, the campaign hopes to enlist one million Filipinos to pray five decades of the Holy Rosary everyday from October 10, 2011 to May 30, 2012, with each day from Monday to Saturday dedicated to one nation in the world, and the Sunday Rosary reserved for our own families and nation, the Philippines. After 200 days, all nations in the world would have been prayed for.
Tweetie mentioned that she has been a devotee of Mama Mary for years now, and she is happy to have influenced her husband to do the same. They pray together in the car on the way to work. Lucy, on the other hand was blessed to have given birth to daughter Juliana on the birthday of Mama Mary. Kris encouraged the audience to take advantage of technology and download the virtual rosary application on their smartphones so they can pray it anytime.
The theme “Filipinos at Prayer: Peace for all Nations” stems from the hope that the worsening peace and order situation around the globe can be averted with a million prayers. Prayer pledges can be made online at www.millionrosesfortheworld.org, where the list of nations assigned for each day can also be found.
