'Work-from-home' bill has been approved at the Senate
Senate Bill No. 1363, otherwise known as the Telecommuting Act of 2017, has been approved with 22 affirmative votes yesterday, May 22, on its third and final reading. The bill, authored by Senators Joel Villanueva and Cynthia Villar, aims to ease traffic in the metro and nearby cities by encouraging companies to adopt a work-from-home program. The bill also seeks to ensure that telecommuters have equal pay, leave benefits, and promotion opportunities as their counterparts in the office. When signed into law, the program will not be mandatory, but instead will give employers the discretion to offer it to their employees. (gmanetwork.com)

Maxene Magalona to honor late dad by getting wed in the Philippines

Many Pinoy celebrities are tying the knot abroad that it's become a trend lately. But, actress Maxene Magalona won't be joining the bandwagon. "Para sa tatay ko na maka-Pilipino, dito po ako ikakasal," she told Pep.ph on her decision to get married in the Philippines to fiance Rob Mananquil. Maxene's father is rap icon Francis Magalona who popularized the hits "Mga Kababayan Ko" and "Kaleidoscope World," among others. He succumbed to leukemia in March 2009. Jollibee issues apology for mascot's 'Versace on the Floor' video

The fastfood giant posted an apology on its official Facebook page for a video that went viral over the weekend. In the video which lasts for 1 minute and 26 seconds, the Jollibee mascot is seen performing a sexy dance to Bruno Mars's 'Versace on the Floor,' at one point even unbuttoning its shirt. While many netizens found the number funny and entertaining, a few also said that it does not conform to the family-oriented image of the brand, not to mention that many of Jollibee's customers are young kids. The company's apology clarified that the incident was during an internal store event and not at a kids' party, but admitted that it is a deviation from their standard guidelines. Jollibee assured its loyal customers that they will "take the necessary measures to ensure that all Jollibee mascot performances will consistently reflect the values and spirit of family, friendship, and wholesome fun" of the brand.
