  • Virlanie Celebrates 18 Years of Helping Street Children

    The Virlanie Foundation, Inc. (VFI), one of the largest non-sectarian child caring institutions in Metro Manila celebrates its eighteenth year preventing the abuse of street children.

    Virlanie, with the help of partners, sponsors and volunteers has been helping street children for 18 years now. “Debut: Celebrating Smiles and New Beginnings” is Virlanie’s 18th Anniversary Celebration which will be held at the Sofitel’s Harbor Garden on July 17, 2010

    The Virlanie Foundation, Inc. (VFI) is one of the largest non-sectarian child caring institutions in Metro Manila, Philippines. The foundation serves children found living in the streets as well as those referred by other institutions. Virlanie works to prevent the future physical and psychological abuse of children. It envisions empowered children with a brighter future.  It cares for more than four hundred fifty (450+) children in its twelve (12) homes and eight hundred (800) children through its outreach programs.

    Virlanie was founded in 1992 by Dominique Lemay, in partnership with Filipinos. Since that time, Virlanie has looked after more than 12,000 children in Metro Manila.  

    Dubbed, the “only charity debut of the year” the funds in relation to the event and throughout the 18 month period will go to operationalizing the L’Envol Home.

    The theme of the event will be a masquerade – it will unmask the phenomenon of street children in the Philippines, reveal Virlanie as an 18-year old Foundation that has worked tirelessly for street children, celebrate the Foundation and Dominique Lemay’s unwavering commitment for the cause, and thank old and new donors and friends for continuously supporting Virlanie’s mission.
