  • Caught on Tape: A 5-Year-Old Girl Saves Her Mom From Drowning

She's being hailed a hero for her bravery and quick-thinking!

  • Video from Inside Edition/Youtube

A 5-year-old girl named Allison Anderwald from Texas, U.S., proved that heroes come in all sizes when she saved her mom’s life. Her heroic deed was caught on video and is now being shared all over the world.

Allison and her mom, Tracy, were enjoying a swim in the family pool when Allison noticed that her mom hadn't come up from underwater for far too long. As it turned out, her mom unexpectedly suffered a seizure and was now unconscious in the pool.

Allison, who learned how to swim when she was 2 years old, swam to her mother and dragged her to the shallow end of the pool, making sure that her head was above water. Then, she ran inside to call other family members for help.

“[Tracy] was really heavy,” Allison's aunt Tedra Hunt told KRIS 6 News. “And I could only get the top part of her out. Then her other daughters ran over to help get her out. Allison was able to do that on her own. It was a miracle.”

Tracy was rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident. Doctors told the family that had she been in the water for any longer it was possibe she could have drowned and not survived.

“She's our little mermaid and my little hero,” Tracy told ABC News.

If you need another reason whether to enroll your kids in swimming lessons, this should convince you. The way Allison kept calm and reacted fast would not have been possible without training and practice at her age. Way to go, Allison!
