A Better View: Daphne Osena-Paez on Getting LASIK SurgeryBusy mom, wife, host/producer, businesswoman and blogger Daphne Osena-Paez tells Smart Parenting Online how LASIK surgery has changed her life.
2005 was one of the busiest years in Daphne Osena-Paez’s life. She was co-hosting the lifestyle show F, was the anchor of weekly newscast slash talk show ANC Life and looking after then only child, 2-year-old Sophia with husband Patrick Paez.
All these, she did while wearing glasses or contact lenses. She had been wearing them since she was fourteen years old. “[My grade] started at 70 and then all of a sudden it was 475,” she recalls. “I remember wearing thick glasses, and then they came up with thin lens, scratch-proof, glare-proof lens.” Later, however, this became an impediment to her daily activities.
“It came to a point when my lifestyle was already hampered by wearing glasses and contact lenses,” she shares. “I work on television and I had an active lifestyle. I was scuba diving, and I had to wear contacts underwater with the mask. And then I had more children, and with kids around, it was very uncomfortable for me (to always wear glasses). I was a newscaster. It was very hard to have glasses when you’re in the news.”
Even driving to work was an uneasy experience. “I remember wearing glasses and my problem was periphery,” Daphne says. “You couldn’t see, and even when you’re wearing contacts, they fold or dry up.”
This left Daphne with no choice but to get a LASIK operation at the American Eye Center. “My decision to do LASIK was because of my children. I wanted to be more mobile and free with no glasses.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWCONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
