Aga Muhlach on Lea Salonga: 'She's the one that got away.' 

Why it was unearthed at this particular time is not clear, but a message Aga wrote on Lea's self-titled book, Playlist: A Celebration of 35 Years, published four years ago, resurfaced online and got a LOT of people talking. They've called it a love letter, and it's easy to understand why. "Lea is the one that got away. And she never knew," the happily married and dad of two began in the letter. Aga then poured his heart about how he admired Lea -- not just her voice, mind you -- and how she taught him a lot about life and the industry. 

"She never knew how much I loved her. It was a lifetime ago...So now she knows. We are older and wiser now, we have gone our own ways, we are no longer the same. But the fire has not ebbed. Rather, it has grown deeper, stronger, quieter, more enduring. I love her still, but perhaps because she got away, I have her as a friend now, and so I will always have her. Anytime she needs me, andyan ako. Anytime I need her, she's there."

When the post went viral, Lea's response was to share this Cosmo.ph story on Twitter. 

Aga and Lea first got together in 1992 in the movie Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal. It was followed by another film, Sana Maulit Muli, in 1995. There have been rumors -- and fans are fervently hoping -- of a third movie pairing the two, but nothing concrete has been announced yet. Paula laughed off their comments and cited four valid reasons why we should shrug off unsolicited parenting advice. To value the person's take, Paula reasoned, she has to be someone she looked up to. The second reason is "it tells more about the person giving it than about me."  

Third reason: another person's opinion or "ignorance on a subject" is not her problem. And lastly and more importantly, "I am confident in my choices as a parent because I read, I do my research, and I seek the guidance of experts in the field," Paula wrote. "When you research for your child, when you check different methods, learn the pros and cons of whatever style you choose, no words can offend you - because you are confident in your choice. I cannot tell you enough how empowering this is. In a world where everybody gives their opinion, this will be your secret weapon." 


Netflix introduces new choose-your-own-adventure show

Remember choose-your-own-adventure books? You can now find the same concept in video form. Netflix just unveiled its first interactive show for kids, Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale, targeted for children aged 12 and below. The new interactive show puts the control in the hands of the viewers, giving them the ability to influence the flow of the narrative. In Puss in Book, kids have a total of 13 choices, and the story can run anywhere between 18 minutes and 39 minutes, depending on their choices. While the choose-your-own-adventure storyline has been used in gaming, Netflix is the first to make interactive content at this scale. For now, it only works on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad) or a Smart TV, but Netflix assures its viewers that it will be made available to Android devices, Chromecast, and Apple TV soon.


Pregnant Serena Williams poses naked for Vanity Fair

Appearing on the cover of Vanity Fair -- the magazine where a pregnant Demi Moore first posed naked in 1994 -- the tennis champion opened up about her surprise pregnancy. Serena shared with the magazine that she took at least six pregnancy tests a week before the start of the Australian Open. "[I] did a double take and my heart dropped. Like literally dropped," the 35-year-old athlete said in the interview. "Oh my God, this can’t be – I’ve got to play a tournament. How am I going to play the Australian Open?" she recalled. Whatever panic or fear she felt, Serena overcame it -- she won the Australian Open for the seventh time and her 23rd Grand Slam title. (people.com)


Flu shots without the needle pain may soon be available
Researchers have created a patch equipped with micro-needles to deliver the influenza shot needed yearly. The bandage-strip-size patch can also be self-administered and stored without refrigeration, which may make vaccine cost significantly cheaper. It only takes 20 minutes for the vaccine to penetrate the skin, and then the patch can be peeled and discarded after. According to a study published in the medical journal, Lancet, it works just as well as a flu shot. "It holds the promise of delivering other vaccines in the future," said Roderic Pettigrew, director of the US National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, which funded the study.
