  • Alice Dixson's first child is a girl, and she's named her daughter Aura.

The 51-year-old actress made the announcement a month after she revealed in a social media post on April 2, 2021 about “our newest little family member" while she was abroad. (Read here.)

In her succeeding posts, she started referring to her bundle of joy as "Baby A." She brought home her child at the start of May. By May 8, she appeared in the "Bawal Judgemental" game portion of the noontime show, Eat Bulaga!, and talked about being a first-time mom.

Alice exclaimed, "It’s an amazing experience. I wish I knew about it earlier, and I wish na nagkaroon ako ng opportunity to have a child earlier.

"Pero eto na siya...Siguro like all first-time moms, mahirap ’yung puyat, mahirap ’yung adjustments sa pagpapakain ng baby at saka sa totoo lang, hanggang ngayon, wala pa rin akong yaya. Wala akong nanny, so it’s all on me."

She explained that she traveled abroad alone because the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions prevented her family members from joining her "noong nanganak ang surrogate ko." (In her past interviews, she said she and her longtime partner have talked about having their own child through surrogacy.)

After receiving the baby in the hospital, Alice said, she's been on her own taking care of her daughter. She especially found difficulty in doing the legwork for Baby Aura's passport, visa, and other travel requirements. She also admitted getting anxious traveling with a newborn.

She added, though, "I’m not complaining. I’m enjoying every moment. Hindi naman ako nag-panic na ako lahat ang mag-asikaso ng baby ko. In fact, I embraced the experience dahil para makilala ko nang mabuti ang aking anak at para magkaroon din kami ng bonding time."

Alice was asked by Eat Bulaga! hosts Paolo Ballesteros and Ryan Agoncillo about the first time she saw and touched Baby Aura.

She replied, "It was a feeling of...halo-halong emotions. Parang a sigh of relief, nerbiyos na ‘Am I going to be a good mom?’ Happiness. Meron din konting fears kasi siyempre there’s a lot of negative things going on around in the world right now.

"Because I’m a very optimistic person, nalampasan ko ang mga trials na ’yun because of positive thinking."

The actress went on gushing about her daughter: "Just looking at her, she’s a very intelligent baby. Ang dami na niyang milestones that she already started na hindi pa dapat. Yes, she’s advance.

"She likes to give that look, na parang nagpa-ponder siya. Nag-iisip siya, ‘Hmm, what is this? What can I do to my Mommy or to my Daddy to get them inis.’ Parati siyang parang malalim ang iniisip, kaya I think she’s gonna be a very smart kid."

Alice is also happy with her partner's reaction to their child's arrival. She said, "Ikinatutuwa ko, no’ng pag-uwi ko, siyempre naka-quarantine ako for six days, sabi niya, ‘Ayoko ng driver pag-uwi n’yo. Pag sundo ko sa inyo, gusto ko, ako lang. Special moment ito na mami-meet ko ang aking anak for the very first time.'"

She added, "When we got home, tulong kami kasi alam niya it was the only time nagkaroon ako ng karelyebo na mag-alaga. So, talagang he helped me with feeding her. He let me sleep for the first time na dire-diretso na eight hours. I saw how much he adored our child. Right away, he fell in love."

Alice turned playful when asked about the changes in her and her partner's relationship. Grinning, she said, "Wala na kaming masyadong time para mag...Netflix." She had the hosts and audience laughing with her.

Her message for Baby Aura: "I just hope she grows up to be a strong woman. My mom was very strong. I learned from her to really parang be persistent, to see the bright side of things, and to just be a ray sunshine.

"She’s really actually our sunshine, but I hope she continues to bring joy and be somebody to contribute to the community...Parang NASA astronaut."
