On the occasion of Alessi's first birthday last June 25, actor Alwyn Uytingco reminisced about the events leading to the birth of his youngest child a year ago with an endearing Instagram greeting.

In his post, the dad of two revealed his wife Jennica Garcia gave birth via water birth at home, and it was he who caught the baby in the process.

Alwyn recalled he and Jennica had just gone for a checkup at the hospital on a rainy day and were headed home to prepare for the birth when Jennica's contractions progressed.

Thirty minutes later after getting home, Jennica gave birth to their baby girl. The catch (pun intended): the midwife got caught in traffic and couldn’t make it on time, so Alwyn had to catch the baby himself.

It was a different kind of feeling for the second-time dad to deliver his own child.

The Uytingcos have always been advocates of natural parenting, preferring wooden toys over battery-operated ones, deciding on a lotus birth, and even making a fruit smoothie drink out of Jennica's placenta from her last childbirth. They are also very intentional when it comes to setting limits for their 3-year-old daughter Athena Mori

Alwyn ended his post with wishes for good health and happiness for Alexis Severina, whose name is derived from Jennica's real name (Alexis Jennica) and the number 7 (“seven is God's number”).
