Andi And Philmar’s ‘Little Sunshine Boy’ Koa Turns 1: ‘Our Symbol Of Hope’A month earlier, Typhoon Odette ravaged the family’s base, Siargao, and other provinces.by Jocelyn Valle .
The actress and mom of three shared some solo snaps of the birthday boy, plus her message. She said in the caption, "Before this day ends! Happy 1st birthday to this little sunshine boy of ours."
Andi added, "Just like during those days we first found out about you... things may seem scary because of all of life's uncertainties, but up until today, you remain to be our little symbol of hope!
"Seeing your sweet smile reminds me why I choose to keep going, even though life can be tough on us sometimes. We'd like to celebrate you more than we are able to right now, but know that we all love you sooo much Koa boy!"
When Andi announced, in August 2020, that she was pregnant with her third child, after daughters Ellie and Lilo, it had been five months since the COVID-19 pandemic started. Amid travel restrictions, she took the trip from Metro Manila back to her home base in Siargao to spend the rest of her pregnancy with Philmar, a surfing champion from the island.
Andi, along with Philmar, Ellie, and Lilo, travelled back to Metro Manila in time for her elective Cesarean delivery in January 2021 and the arrival of their newest member (read here). Then they all went home to Siargao, and stayed there until December, when Andi again travelled, with her children, to attend the wedding of her best friends in Batangas.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Andi and her brood were scheduled to fly back home when Typhoon Odette hit the country in mid-December, devastating Siargao and many other areas in different provinces. They were later joined in the city by Philmar.
In one of her recent posts, Andi shared how she and her family have been coping in the city while still awaiting to return home.
She confessed, "Been having a tough time assessing how I feel but I realise, nevermind that for now because after all of life's uncertainty, there's still so much to be grateful for.
"My kids know for sure this is not 'home,' but having both of us around somehow makes everything better. Although soon, papa will be going back to the island again, I am more than happy to focus on our children for the both of us knowing that he is able to help better from there.
"Sincerest thanks for your support in helping us earn enough to help rebuild several families' homes in Siargao by watching our December videos on youtube!"
Andi had earlier announced that they would be donating earnings from their popular family vlog, Happy Islanders, to help rehabilitate Siargao.
