Jake Ejercito: Andi And I Have Finally Figured Out Co-Parenting For Ellie

Though they used to have disagreements that inevitably became public because of their celebrity status, former couple Jake Ejercito and Andi Eigenmann have finally found their middle ground in raising their daughter Ellie — and so far, so good. 

“We try to exclude her from all the drama,” Jake told Inquirer.net in an interview. “I’m proud to say that lately, we don’t have disagreements anymore. This is because Andi and I prioritize Ellie’s welfare,” he added.

As for their current setup — Jake stays in Manila while Andi has settled nicely in Siargao with her current partner Philmar Alipayo and their 6-month-old daughter Keliana Alohi, or Lilo — the single dad is relieved that they are able to make co-parenting work for Ellie’s sake.

“I think she [Ellie] is now well aware of what happened between Andi and I. She knows that I’m not with her mom; that ours is not a normal family. 

“But as much as possible Andi and I try to give her a sense of normalcy. I’m so thankful that finally we’ve figured out co-parenting for Ellie. We’re doing this with our daughter in mind,” he said.

From his Instagram posts, Jake looks like a fun kind of dad to Ellie, and he attributes it to their age gap. 

“I was only 21 when Ellie was born, so our age gap is not that wide. I’m more of a barkada to her. She recently turned 8. She’s no longer a baby — dalagita na. Slowly, the challenges of being a dad is becoming more evident.”

In another interview with Jake by GMA News, he mentioned that Ellie is actually a doting Ate to Lilo, whom he has already met when Andi went to Manila for Ellie’s recent birthday celebration.

Though they may lead separate lives, the exes seem to be genuinely happy for each other. Jake says of Andi, “I’m very proud of her na tinalikuran niya yung pagiging showbizness for more simple life... as long as she’s happy.” 

Indeed, all’s well that ends well.
