It’s been nearly a month since Assunta de Rossi revealed to the public that she’s expecting her first baby with her husband former, congressman Jules Ledesma. We first got a glimpse of her growing baby bump, courtesy of the excited dad to be.
It's typical for first-time preggos to show a little later into their pregnancy. The skin in their tummy has not been stretched yet, so their baby bump may not be obvious early on.
On May 13, Jules, 59, shared a photo of Assunta’s much more visible baby bump. This time, the first-time preggo was lounging on their sofa, and clearly, her tummy isn’t flat.
Then just a day ago, May 27, the dad of two shared another photo of Assunta cradling her tummy. “Good Morning, mimiku (Assunta). God Keep You and the Child,” he wrote as a caption.
Jules first posted a photo of his wife cradling a barely-there baby bump to greet Assunta on Mother's Day, May 10. She was standing next to a portrait of either Jules’s or Assunta’s mother.
“To all mamas-to-be, a huge congratulations. To those who are still waiting, He is listening,” the preggo wrote as a caption for Mother’s Day on Instagram, which included the same photo.
Assunta conceived naturally despite having myoma and endometriosis after trying for 16 years. She admitted that they have long accepted that it would be difficult for them to conceive because of her conditions and after a failed in vitro fertilization (IVF) attempt. They consider this pregnancy a miracle.
But being pregnant during COVID-19 adds to her worries. She hasn’t had an ultrasound since her first one in her 6th week. Assunta is already 17 weeks or 4 months into the pregnancy. Thankfully, she’s feeling nothing of the typical pregnancy symptoms and changes, which is a relief.
“Pregnancy is not at all glamorous, but it’s the most beautiful miracle,” Assunta told ABS-CBN’s Push. She’s stuck in bed all day “feeling horrible” due to nausea and dizziness.
Since her pregnancy is delicate, her goal is to gain weight. “Nagpapalaki,” according to her latest post on Instagram. She’s trying her best to keep her food consumption down and to take her prenatal vitamins.
The soon-to-be mom is thankful that her husband is by her side. “We’ve become so much closer since there’s nothing else to do,” Assunta says. “He would sometimes talk to the baby, which I appreciate,” she shared.
