Bettinna Carlos Is Engaged! 'You're The Man I Really Prayed For'

Bettinna Carlos did not need any words to announce her engagement to her non-showbiz boyfriend Mikki Eduardo. Instead, she used the emojis family, heart, and prayer, to signify the new chapter they are entering as a couple.

On October 7, 2020, the actress posted a meaningful photo of her, Mikki, and her daughter, Gummy on her Instagram account. Many were quick to notice that Bettinna was wearing an engagement ring on her left ring finger.

Following her post, Mikki uploaded a close-up shot of Bettinna’s hand with the ring. He captioned it simply with a heart emoji.

Gummy also reposted Mikki’s photo and confirmed the news. “My mommy is enganged [sic] woohooo,” the 7-year-old wrote. 

Bettinna’s comment section was immediately flooded with congratulatory messages. Actress Nikki Valdez wrote, “THIS IS IT!!!!!!!” while Joy Sotto said, “Aaawwwwww, congratulations!!!! Rejoicing with you!!!” Patty Laurelalso commented, “So truly happy for you!!!!! God has blessed you so much!!!!”

The proposal

Mikki proposed in a simple but romantic way, based on the Instagram stories uploaded by his sister, Anj Eduardo. He laid out roses from the entrance of a home to the living room. There were also candles and a guitarist could be heard singing Gary Valenciano’s “I Will Be Here."

“I love you, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. And Gummy, I love you both. Will you marry me?” Mikki said as he knelt down in front of Bettinna.

“Of course, yes,” was Bettinna’s answer.

The proposal was witnessed by close family and friends from both sides.

In an Instagram story that Mikki shared today, October 8, it seems he also gave a similar ring to the little girl. "Can't be left behind. Gumgum wears one of her own [heart emoji]," Mikki wrote. 

Bettinna’s answered prayer

The proposal comes barely two months after the 32-year-old made their relationship public. On August 14, he posted a collage of photos featuring Mikki and her daughter, Gummy. As a single parent, it was important for Bettinna that her partner would treat Gummy like his own.

Bettinna wrote, “For years I have prayed to the Lord for a man who ‘is already who he should be.’ Yung Okay na. Ayos na. ‘Wala na kong babaguhin.

“LORD pwede po ba KUNG MAAARI LANG NAMAN LORD yung ibibigay Mo po yung natrain mo na? Yung di ko na po kailangang turuan paano mamahalin at pakikisamahan ang anak ko???

“And God gave us you, @mikki.e.eduardo.”

Bettinna added that from “Day 0” Mikki already showed how much he loved Gummy. The actress added that she could already see how much he loved her daughter. “And neither did I have to wonder if you know what you’re getting yourself into and if you’re ready to be a Dad because God Himself already prepared you for that role and placed that desire in your heart… before we even met,” she wrote, adding that Mikki was perfect for them, calling him her “answered prayer.”

A month before the proposal, Bettinna also shared another photo that affirmed that their relationship was for keeps. Reflecting on a fight that the couple had, Bettinna realized, “Love you did something else that I knew in my heart, you’re the man I really prayed for: YOU PATIENTLY LISTENED.

“Not to answer back, not to defend yourself. But TO UNDERSTAND me, my hurts, where I was coming from. Also you ACKNOWLEDGED my emotions. Hindi mo dinisregard ang feelings ko na baket ang sensitive mo bakit ang oa mo etc. You listened and RESPECTED how I felt. And you DID NOT JUDGE me for it,” she wrote.

In 2019, Bettinna shared that she was finally able to forgive Gummy’s father, saying that it felt “liberating.”
