  • Bianca Gonzalez-Intal Reveals She Suffers From Hyperemesis Gravidarum

    by Rachel Perez .
  • After Bianca Gonzalez-Intal announced on May 30 that she and husband JC Intal are expecting another baby, the television host reveals on her Instagram that she suffered from severe all-day morning sickness or Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) during the first four months of her second pregnancy.

"This is pretty much how I looked every single day during the first four months of my pregnancy," she wrote in her Instagram caption.

"I lost so much weight when I started getting pregnant," Bianca shared Pep.ph. "I lost nine pounds kasi ten times ako sumusuka...I can't keep my food in, so na-traumatize ako," she added.

Bianca still has not lost her humor, pointing out that the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and NBA player Stephen Curry's wife Ayesha Curry had HG.  "Pampalubag loob ko LOL."

HG is often described as an extreme form of morning sickness that can last the entire duration of pregnancy. The  Hyperemesis Education and Research Foundation (HER) says those who suffer from HG can experience numerous episodes of nausea and vomiting throughout the day. It can get so bad that it can lead to dehydration, weight loss, or nutritional deficiencies if left untreated.

Bianca said she still went to work, but "none of them had any idea that my bathroom breaks would be to vomit. I would always bring wipes and mouthwash everywhere I went."

The experience has caught the mom by surprise because when she was pregnant with Lucia, it was "effortless."

"Parang walang-wala. Feeling ko normal yung pregnancy, kasi I didn't feel anything. Work, work, work!" Bianca told Pep.ph.

Bianca said her doctor helped her focus on the brighter side of things, that the morning sickness "was a sign that my pregnancy hormones are strong, therefore, good for the baby."

She is also feeling better. "Mga three times a day. Nabawasan na [ang pagsusuka], a bit better," she said.

In her Pep.ph interview, Bianca admitted it was only after Lucia turned 2 years old that she felt ready for another baby. "For the longest time, di talaga ako ready to have a second because hirap na hirap ako," Bianca revealed. "I wasn’t ready for the longest time, lalo na I breastfed my first daughter for two years," she said. "Parang niraraos ko talaga every day," Bianca added.

The soon-to-be mom of two explained that she had always felt like she was not a natural mother. "As in pag nagpapalaki ng bata, nag-aalaga, yung everyday na mag-alaga ng bata, feeling ko it’s so unnatural for me. Unlike some other mothers na parang second nature ang motherhood, ako hindi talaga. Career woman ako. Parang struggle ko talaga ang maging mommy," she reasoned.

But when she and JC decided to get pregnant again, Bianca was grateful. "I know so many couples na nahihirapan to get pregnant, I just feel more than anything na ang suwerte namin. Nung ginusto namin, it didn’t take so long."

Taking a shot at motherhood the second time around, though, Bianca feels more prepared. "Hindi ka na kasing praning ng first kasi medyo alam mo na, hindi ka na yung nagwo-worry about every little thing. Nagwo-worry ka pa rin pero iba pa rin yung sa una," she shared.

Bianca ended her Instagram post with a shout-out to all mothers. "Cheers to all other mommas who are going through the same thing, or who have been through this, too! Truly, the toughest job in the world."
