On Sunday, September 20, 2020, Coleen Garcia marked her son Amari’s first week by paying tribute to her ‘mom bod.’ She has found a new kind of appreciation for it.
“Fully-recovered and feeling a different kind of #strong now,” the new mom wrote on her Instagram Stories.
Coleen has a newfound appreciation for her body after giving birth.

The caption accompanied Coleen’s bathroom mirror selfie with her midsection exposed. You can clearly still see her linea negra and a bit of a postpartum pouch still visible.
Days after giving birth, Coleen admitted to feeling the baby blues. She expected that postpartum recovery and breastfeeding would be challenging. Still, She didn’t anticipate how hard it would be to do both at the same time.
Coleen took the time to recover and tend to her newborn son, Amari.

Then, Coleen expressed that she wished to move around better and be stronger as soon as possible. Now that she’s up and about, the new mom sees herself “in a whole new light,” after going through pregnancy and childbirth.
“My body has been through a lot in the past few months, and I’ve never had this much love and respect for it,” Coleen said. “It’s been an incredible journey of self-love and acceptance,” she added.
The actress gave birth to Amari, on September 10, naturally via a water birth at home. Coleen only had her husband Billy Crawford, and a dedicated birth team to coach and assist her. Since then, she's been recovering and breastfeeding Amari on demand.
Her first "praning" moment as a mom happened when Amari had newborn acne. Coleen promptly asked her midwife, Ob-Gyn, and pediatrician, and they assured her that it's normal. She was able to resolve it with the help of breast milk .
“It’s been a tough few days, but also so incredibly rewarding,” Coleen said.
