Coleen Garcia Plans To Give Birth At HomeColeen Garcia aims for an unmedicated, natural birth.
Coleen Garcia has decided to give birth at home. The 27-year-old star talked about her birthing plans in an exclusive interview with Pep.ph via e-mail on Monday, August 24, 2020. She is due to give birth this September. Her first choice was to deliver her firstborn via unmedicated water birth.
“I knew from the very beginning that I wanted an unmedicated water birth, with less interventions as possible,” she said. “But doctors had always discouraged me from going for a home birth, and it made me anxious,” Coleen revealed.
“I was then hoping for an unmedicated water birth in a hospital, just to be safe, since some hospitals did offer that. However, because of the pandemic, they had to put that method on hold,” Coleen shared. She eventually decided to do home birth, but her reason was not entirely because of COVID-19.
The soon-to-be mom wants her husband Billy Crawford to be by her side when she delivers their baby boy. Coleen continued, “Although a lot of hospitals are at full capacity, and there’s also the fact that Billy wouldn’t have been able to join me during the delivery.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
“My main driving force for wanting to have a home birth, more than anything, is just to have the peaceful birth I’ve wanted from the start,” she said.CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
While she’s not necessarily worried about the increasing number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals, the actress said she just feels more comfortable giving birth at home than at a hospital.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
“After thoroughly studying my options, I just don’t feel like I would be as comfortable in a hospital setting right now. It leaves more room for me to just trust in God and allow the birth to happen as naturally as it can,” Coleen said.
She continued, “He has blessed me with a low-risk pregnancy, and the baby has been showing all the good signs at the right times, so I’m a good candidate for home birth.”
Coleen acknowledged that home birthing will not be easy, so she and her team already came up with a contingency plan. She said, “My team is made up of a midwife, a nurse, and a doula, then we have an OB on call lang in case we need to transfer to a hospital.
“We’re also prepared for any emergency, and we do have a doctor and hospital in mind just in case things go wrong. We’re hoping for the best, but it’s still important to be safe and prepared,” she stressed.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Coleen and Billy are excited parents
But Coleen and Billy are actually more excited than worried. The baby’s nursery is ready. “His room is almost ready. With the help of Gussy, an interior design company, we turned our old gym into his room. It’s such a beautiful room, and I look forward to spending time there,” Coleen shared.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
“There are just a few more things that need to be added, but we plan on co-sleeping in our room first, so that room’s just gonna be there waiting for him!”
Coleen is also looking forward to this new chapter of their lives as parents. “Right now, I’m just very excited! Billy and I know that our lives are about to change forever, and the entire process of getting to this point has already been eye-opening and life-changing for us,” she said.
“There’s so much we had to work on—on ourselves, on our relationship and dynamics as partners—because we want to be good examples to our child. We know we will never be perfect, but we can always try to be better! Having a baby is a huge responsibility, but it’s something we will go through together,” the first-time preggo added.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Coleen and Billy announced that they are expecting their first child through their social media accounts on May 1, 2020. At that time, Coleen was already on her fifth month of pregnancy. The good news came two years after they tied the knot in a beach wedding at the Balesin Island Club on April 20, 2018.
