In an exclusive interview with Pep.ph via e-mail on August 24, the first-time mom told the story behind Amari's unique name. Coleen revealed it was Billy's idea. "His name is Amari. Billy was the one who chose it," she shared.
"He says it just popped in his mind, and when he searched it, he saw that it means 'promised by God.' And as we shared in one of our vlogs, that is definitely the story of this baby and this pregnancy, so it’s perfect," Coleen said.
The new mom added that the name "Amari"' also means "strength and eternal."
According to BabyNames.com, "Amari" is considered a unisex name, meaning it has been used for boy and girls. For example, Joy W. Sotto's baby girl is also named Amari.
Coleen opted not to give birth in the hospital "to have the peaceful birth I’ve wanted from the start" and to have Billy with her throughout the entire process.
"After thoroughly studying my options, I just don’t feel like I would be as comfortable in a hospital setting right now. It leaves more room for me to just trust in God and allow the birth to happen as naturally as it can," she explained.
"He has blessed me with a low-risk pregnancy, and the baby has been showing all the good signs at the right times, so I’m a good candidate for home birth," Coleen added.
According to the VIVA talent, Baby Amari will be staying in his parents' room for now. "His room is almost ready! With the help of Gussy, an interior design company, we turned our old gym into his room!" Coleen shared.
"It’s such a beautiful room, and I look forward to spending time there. There are just a few more things that need to be added, but we plan on co-sleeping in our room first, so that room’s just gonna be there waiting for him!"
