Dennis Trillo didn't let the day pass on May 8, 2022 without greeting his wife Jennylyn Mercado a Happy Mother's Day. He also took the chance to give a glimpse of their baby daughter, who was born 13 days prior to the red-letter day for mothers.
Dennis posted a photo of Jennylyn while holding, sideways, their panganay they call, for now, "Baby D." The newborn's face is not shown in the picture.
He went on expressing his gratitude, "Salamat sa lahat ng hirap at sakripisyo mo, alam kong hindi naging madali. Saludo ako sayo at sa lahat ng mga nanay na kagaya mo…Kaya ni-rerespeto, pinapahalagahan at mahal na mahal kita. Happy Mother’s Day! I love you."
Aside from Baby D, the couple have one child each from their previous relationships. Dennis's 14-year-old son Calix's mother is former beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, while Jennylyn's 13-year-old son Alex Jazz's father is actor Patrick Garcia.
Here are not-so-secret ways to keep your relationship strong as you both grow as parents:
“Ask how (your significant) other is," says registered counselor, family life specialist, and psychological lecturer (at Mirriam College) Michele S. Alignay. "This is something you can do to keep the friendship factor alive in your marriage.”
She explains, “This is very critical a lot of couples forget that they need to nurture the friendship in the marriage.”
A virtual connection is never the same as a real one, that's why Alignay says you must set aside at least 20 to 30 minutes a day to connect.
The biggest issue here would be leaving the kids behind every week. But Alignay points out, “You need to toughen up your heart and set aside the guilt. Once kids get the habit of knowing that there’s Mommy and Daddy date night, it will be easier.”
Even if there are so many things to think about during the day, it is important to take a break and find a way to make your spouse feel special. Alignay suggestion: “You can even involve the kids. Tell them, ‘let’s pick up a surprise for Dad.' The kids will see that you’re taking care of each other and your marriage.”
