The Department of Education (DepEd) is partnering with Jollibee to bring hands-on skills and new learning opportunities to senior high school students across the Philippines. The partnership introduces a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) curriculum and includes the construction of 50 classrooms by 2028.

The QSR program will teach students practical skills in food preparation, customer service, safety and sanitation, and business communication.

Spreading Joy Through Education

“I have always believed that education opens doors – lifting up individuals, families, and entire communities. But in many parts of the country, teachers and students continue to face challenges that can make learning more difficult. And then there’s the gap between school and work that leaves many students underprepared for employment,” said Joseph Tanbuntiong, Jollibee Group Philippines chief executive officer.

Tanbuntiong added, “As a company whose purpose is to spread joy, we believe we have the opportunity to help change these through the partnership with DepEd.”

The curriculum combines classroom instruction with immersive on-the-job training across Jollibee Group brands. The pilot program will begin in select schools nationwide during the upcoming school year, with lessons from the initial run guiding its expansion.

Beyond skills training, the Jollibee Group Foundation will also help address the country’s shortage of learning spaces. The initiative begins in 2026 with six classrooms in Mindoro, Cebu, and Sarangani and will continue until a total of 50 classrooms are completed by 2028.

“This partnership with the Jollibee Group is a strong example of how public-private cooperation can bring industry-relevant learning into the classroom,” said DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara. “The commitment to build 50 new classrooms by 2028 also shows how this partnership invests in both knowledge and space, ensuring that more Filipino students are equipped for the future of work.”

Angara added that the program helps students build resilience alongside technical skills, preparing them for a world shaped by technology and artificial intelligence.

For Jollibee, the initiative is a way to empower future food service professionals while supporting communities nationwide.
