It's been a little over a month since Dianne Medina and husband Rodjun Cruz welcomed their first child, son Joaquin. The new mom recently opened up about her struggle with breastfeeding and postpartum blues.
"As much as possible, I want to exclusively breastfeed my son," Dianne told Pep.ph. She revealed that her breast milk supply, though, is fluctuating.
"Sometimes, yung milk supply ko mahina, sometimes naman ang dami niya," she said. It's also an added challenge that she feels frustrated and sad when her milk supply is low.
What helps Diane continue to breastfeed
The new mom is thankful for having a good support system. She prays every day for the Lord's help. Her son's pediatrician and their doctors also offer support and their household staff, and of course, Rodjun.
"My husband is very supportive, a hundred percent. He takes good care of me and our baby," she shares. "Talagang yung words of encouragement din niya to support me with this breastfeeding journey," Dianne added.
She also has fellow moms that help her by giving tips on increasing her milk supply. Firstly, Dianne strives to hydrate often, eat healthily, having soups and lots of malunggay. She also takes vitamins and supplements.

Another thing that helps is getting enough sleep, which may seem impossible for a mom to a newborn, who feeds almost every two hours. Dianne again credits her husband for taking the night shift.
