At the press conference of her new cooking show Heart Mate Kitchen, the single mom revealed that her heart has healed and that she has moved on from the breakdown of her marriage to Eric Villarama, with whom she has a son. Donita is convinced that she has finally moved on because she was emotionally able to let go of her son JP when the boy visited his dad in the U.S.. "Nung una, parang ayaw ko, kasi parang ang sama-sama ng loob ko. But I realized na meron pa rin akong mga hang-ups sa nangyari so I have to get over it," she explained. The actress was thankful she allowed JP to go as it also helped cure the boy's "homesickness" with his dad.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The single mom said she's been single and had never dated since the separation, but is happy for Eric. "JP's dad and I both agreed that we would really put the past behind us and help raise him together," Donita said, adding that the FaceTime app is helping them co-parent JP. Their divorce had been finalized in the U.S. in December 2016, but she's currently working on the annulment of their marriage here. (gmanetwork.com)

When LJ's son Aki celebrated his 7th birthday, the single mom threw him a Batman-themed party at Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Libis, Quezon City. Batman is the little boy's favorite superhero and LJ, with boyfriend Paolo Contis's help, organized the party and prioritized Aki's friends and classmates in the guest list. LJ even quipped, "At wala sanang magtatampo kasi guest list ni Aki ‘yan, hindi po ako ang may birthday."
Notably absent from the party was Aki's father, Paulo Avelino. When asked if she invited him, LJ told Pep.ph, "Basta ang sa akin, lahat ng nagmamahal kay Aki, nandito. Lahat ng malapit sa puso ni Aki, nandito." She added that she's generally not expecting anything from her ex. "Okey naman kami ni Aki. I think napaparamdam ko naman sa kanya ang love ng isang magulang. Yung love na kailangan niya, yun," she added. In a separate interview, Paulo clarified that he was not invited to his son's birthday party, but he did send a gift for Aki. Congress to prioritize passage of the dissolution of marriage bill
House of Representatives (HOR) Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, during his speech at the opening of the 17th Congress's second year, said that his priority bill this year is the dissolution of marriage. The bill, which he authored, would allow spouses to mutually terminate the marriage "without the need for an extensively adversarial system." Alvarez said he had entrusted the bill to Taguig City Representative Pia Cayetano.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
In an interview on DZRH radio, the speaker clarified that he drafted the measure not for himself, as he was under scrutiny last year after admitting to having a girlfriend and being separated from his wife. The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) had also said via a statement that the dissolution of marriage bill is essentially divorce, which they had opposed for years. Parents, make sure you understand follow-up after kids' hospitalization
A new study found that medication errors, including dosage and frequency, were two of the most common mistakes parents make. Underdosing or overdosing both put children at risk for dangerous side effects, which could prolong the child's illness or worsen his health. Parents also frequently misunderstood the needed follow-up appointments or signs that warrant them to bring the child back to the hospital. They are thus encouraged to speak up and ask questions when they don’t understand the instructions. The study says doctors should also keep instructions simple and ask families questions to make sure the parents understood what they were told. (abs-cbn.com)
U.S. FDA approves first-ever neonatal MRI device
Embrace Neonatal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can now be used in hospital neonatal intensive care units (NICU). It is the first-ever device designed specifically to scan the head and brain of babies. Traditional MRI scanners can be used on infants, but having babies leave the NICU and transferred to MRI suites could present health risks for the already frail baby. Embrace Neonatal MRI is also equipped with a temperature-controlled incubator to minimize the baby's movement during a scan, and technicians will be able to remove the child from the unit in 30 seconds or less in case of an emergency. Despite not having gone through clinical testing, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) deemed that the fully- enclosed MRI system is safe enough to be placed inside the NICU even without a safety zone.
