Protect Your Family During Emergencies With the Philippine Red Cross Safe Card

Family emergencies are often stressful and unpredictable. The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Safe Card helps parents prepare by offering basic accident benefits and priority access to emergency services for P1,200 a year.

The PRC Safe Card is a one-year membership program available to individuals aged three to 85. Cardholders receive accident-related assistance and can request specific Red Cross services during covered emergencies. The program also serves as a fundraising channel that supports the organization’s disaster response, blood services, and community health work nationwide.

Under the program, members are entitled to one free ambulance service and one free bag of blood for accident-related needs. The card also includes medical reimbursement for covered accidents, a daily hospital allowance of P200 during confinement, and accidental death benefits of up to P300,000. Burial assistance is also included in fatal accident cases.

Coverage extends beyond major road accidents. The Safe Card program also lists support for certain common illnesses that require hospital confinement, dengue cases, animal bites, and injuries connected to natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes. Incidents that happen while traveling in public or private vehicles are also included, subject to program terms.

There are certain situations that the Safe Card does not cover. These include cases involving self-harm, suicide, criminal activity, war-related incidents, pregnancy-related complications, serious violent crimes, and violations of transport regulations in vehicular accidents. Injuries from high-risk occupations are generally excluded if they occur during work duties.

Registration is available both onsite and online. Applicants may visit the nearest PRC chapter to enroll.

1. Register
Fill out the membership enrollment form or scan the QR code to register through the official PRC website.

2. Pay
Complete the payment through approved channels such as GCash or other listed options.

3. Submit Proof
Send your completed membership form and proof of payment via the online form or email to members@redcross.org.ph.

4. Receive Your Card
After processing, claim your Safe Card at the selected PRC office.

In the event of an accident, members must notify the PRC within 30 days via the official claims contact numbers or email. Required documents must be submitted within 60 days from the date of the accident or hospital discharge for confinement cases. For emergency ambulance or blood requests following an accident, members can call the PRC hotline at 143 and provide their Safe Card details.

Note that the Safe Card is not a substitute for comprehensive health insurance. It functions more as a supplemental layer of emergency support tied directly to Red Cross services.
