The Parenting Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (PFP) will launch a book titled “My Family… My Home…” on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at The Club, Greenbelt Parkplace, 112 Carlos Palanca St., Makati City from 2:30 – 6:00 pm.
“My Family… My Home…” a 125-page collection of stories about the predicament of abused, neglected, and abandoned children who found peace and shelter through foster families who cared for them. Published by (UNICEF) and supported by UNICEF Philippines Child Protection Section, this book is a portrayal of emotions by foster parents and their own families. This book also aims to encourage family-based alternative care and talks about the newly passed Senate Bill No. 2486 or Foster Care Act of 2010.
PFP Executive Director, Maria Paz De Guzman says of the book, “this compilation of fostering experiences may help give some answers to frequently asked questions. Hopefully it will also raise many questions. It is already showing how in a country like the Philippines with a huge child population and a large percentage of them in need of child protection, that foster care can be used more frequently.”
The book is for sale at P1,000 and proceeds will go to the different projects of the foundation. If you are interested in purchasing a copy you can contact the Parenting Foundation at firstname.lastname@example.org.
