  • Heads up, parents! Cable TV just lost another educational channel option. The National Geographic channel, along with sister channels Baby TV, National Geographic Wild, Star Chinese Movies, and Star Chinese Channel, will cease airing on cable TV starting October 1.

SKYCable released an advisory that the Walt Disney Company has decided to cease these Disney channels in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines. This means that all pay TV operators, including SkyCable will no longer be able to offer these channels to their subscribers. SkyCable has also stopped offering these channels for new Select subscriptions starting from last September 11.

National Geographic is a popular science and adventure channel that features non-fiction and documentary shows involving nature, culture, and history. National Geographic Wild on the other hand, focuses on animal-related shows. National Geographic Partners, LLC is a joint venture between the Walt Disney Company, which owns 73% of shares, and the namesake non-profit scientific organization National Geographic Society, which owns 27%.

BabyTV is a multilingual channel targeted for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, featuring content built around nine developmental topics that cover all early learning skills and developmental milestones for babies and toddlers.
