Actress Heart Evangelista on Monday fired back at comments pressuring her to get pregnant, saying “nobody knows the real struggle” of conceiving and that it’s up for her to decide given that it’s her own body.
Heart responded to the derogatory comments about her ability to conceive on a fan account that shared a Tiktok video of her in a bikini at the beach.
On Twitter, Heart said she was “furious” at how people think women must bear a child to be happy, noting that life for her is good because the people she loves are fine.
“Stop telling me to get pregnant unless you really want to hurt me. Nobody knows the real struggle. Also may I add life is good. People I love are fine and everything else in between is ok so bonus nalang if I do conceive. Again it’s my body,” Heart tweeted.
In another tweet, she wrote, “I’m not mad just furious how people think na need mo magkaanak para maging masaya. I am already a happy person and grateful. Tama na ang pressure. Inspire each other nalang tayo.”
In May 2018, Heart suffered a miscarriage, causing her and her husband, Sorgogon Gov. Chiz Escudero, to lose their twin children. Back then, the actress said the experience “traumatized” her, making her think that she wasn’t good enough of a person to suffer that way.
“Having a miscarriage is the most traumatizing feeling. I carried my twins 4 months after because my doctor wanted me to naturally go through the process. It was the most horrible feeling thinking maybe God can bring them back to me … or me thinking am I not a good person for this to happen,” she said.
