James and Phil Younghusband to Hold Summer Football ClinicsWell-loved brothers and football icons James and Phil Younghusband their academy's great plans for students this summer.
Naturally active since childhood, brothers Phil & James Younghusband lead very energetic lives whether it’s on or off football season. During game season, they spend almost their entire day on football practices in the morning and in the afternoon, taking in-between breaks for meals and enough rest. “We need to shape up in the days leading to a game so we do a lot of running, intense training, and plenty of fitness work,” James said of their football training regimen. Aside from playing for the Philippine National Team, the brothers are in demand playing for Club Team, Loyola Meralco Sparks under the United Football League.
James and Phil are not just topnotch football players. The brothers founded The Younghusbands Football Academy (TYFA) and also earned their European Union Football Association (UEFA) Coaching Licenses. Since 2010, the brothers have also been busy with their advocacy in promoting football to the masses by going to different provinces preaching the gospel of football and the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle to kids and Public School Teachers. They also conduct various Football Clinics within Metro Manila, plus a regular TV segment entitled Football Younghusband Instructional (aka FYI).”
This summer, Phil and James are getting ready for their Summer Football Clinics, slated from April to May. What’s even more exciting is that members of the English football club Chelsea, which won several Premier League championships, will be coming over to the Philippines to partner with the Younghusband Football Academy for this endeavor.
During their free time, the Younghusbands try to engage in other activities other than football. “I want to be able to try everything at least once, so when we’re not playing football, I play other sports like basketball, tennis, and swimming,” shared Phil.
For Phil and James, balance is important in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. “The right amount of exercise, enough sleep, and balanced diet are key for me to be able to do the things I enjoy doing.
