It was John Lloyd Cruz who attended the rescheduled preliminary hearing on the child abuse and cybercrime case filed against his partner, Ellen Adarna, by the family of 17-year-old Eleila Santos.
John Lloyd arrived with Ellen's legal counsel at the Pasig City Office of the Prosecutor this afternoon, June 11, according to a tweet by ABS-CBN entertainment reporter MJ Felipe.

According to Felipe, the whole procedure lasted less than 30 minutes with Ellen's camp asking the court to reschedule the hearing again to June 25.
The original hearing date was on June 4, which was attended by Eleila's parents, Myra and Roel Santos, and their lawyer. But Ellen, who is reportedly pregnant, was a no-show. Reports of her father's death, however, surfaced on June 3. Her lawyer then asked to reschedule it for today.

The Santos family filed a legal complaint of child abuse (R.A. 7610 or Anti-Child Abuse Law) and cybercrime (R.A. 10175 or Anti-Cybercrime Law) after Ellen did not make a public apology for posting a video of Eleila, a minor, on her Instagram. Ellen was calling out Eleila and her companion for allegedly taking a video of her and John Lloyd while dining at a ramen restaurant last May 4.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
A day after Ellen posted the video, SmartParenting.com.ph was able to talk to Eleila's mom via email. Myra said Ellen had no right to post a video of her daughter on social media. "If you had any problem with my daughter, you should have told her directly or at least got my number and called me. I would take the responsibility since she is still [a] minor. I would not have tolerated what she did if it was wrong. But, on this issue, wala ako makitang mali sa ginawa ng anak ko. Her response showed that my daughter is innocent and sincere."
Eleila, who is an incoming college freshman, already denied via Twitter that she was taking a video of Ellen and John Lloyd at the said restaurant in Makati. She told SmartParenting that she was just making a video of the restaurant.
