Congress urged to pass mental health bill ASAP
"Health is essential to [the] development, and there is no health without mental health," Dr. June Lopez of the Philippine Psychiatric Association (PPA) said in a statement. Dr. Bolet Bautista of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) added, "With the passage of the Bill, we can foresee the offering of programs that enhance the resilience of individuals, families, and communities." Over the past years, there has been an increase in suicide incidents, all the more highlighting the urgency of the bill's enactment into law. It's not only for those diagnosed with mental health conditions, but also for all Filipinos' well-being and mental health. Last month, the House of Representatives (HOR) approved House Bill No. 6452 or the Comprehensive Mental Health Act on its second reading. The Senate version was approved on the third and final reading in May. (gmanetwork.com)ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
