Korina Sanchez's Favorite Room in the House Is Pepe and Pilar's NurseryThe first-time mom could not get enough of her children!by Lei Dimarucut-Sison .
Broadcaster Korina Sanchez-Roxas is still on a high from having double blessings in Pepe and Pilar, her twins with Secretary Mar Roxas who were born in February 2019 via surrogate in the United States. The excited parents brought home their babies in April, to their spacious two-storey property in Cubao.
Korina, 54, refers to her twins Pepe Ramon Gerardo Manuel Denzel and Judith Celia Esther Korina as her “miracles.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
To make the twins feel right at home, the couple decided to have the veranda on the second floor converted into a nursery just in time for their arrival.
“When I left for the U.S. in February, a month and a half before we arrived, the renovation was already in the works,” Korina told Pep.ph in May.
“Pero nagkaroon ng delay. Medyo stress kasi two weeks before bringing the twins home, hindi pa raw tapos. Ang kumplikado, ha.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

It was Korina who selected the colors of the nursery — mostly neutrals and pastels that make the space relaxing and homey. The pair of wooden white cribs, the changing table, and the tufted armchair all follow the same color scheme.
“There’s nothing too bright or colorful, except, of course, yung ilang toys na siyang naging accents ng room.
“But more than the aesthetic side kasi, we wanted it to be comfortable and functional. Parang mini-house na andun na lahat,” she explained.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The twins’ nursery also has a view of the garden, and gets bathed in natural sunlight through the windows. However, according to Korina, “The pediatricians say that maybe direct sunlight isn’t so advisable yet. Maybe next month or by the time they are four months.
“Morning sun might be good for a little while, but no, we’re not really out yet. And there’s always air conditioning. Si Pepe ay pawisin,” she revealed.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The first-time mom is amazed at how quickly kids grow — and today, July 12, Pepe and Pilar turn 5 months old!
Korina revealed she is practical when it comes to buying things for the twins, like their clothes, because they are only able to use them a few times.
“Siyempre, nakakatuwang tumingin, di ba? ‘Ang cute nito, bagay kay Pepe. Ay ito, para kay Pilar,’ but ang bilis kasi nilang lumaki, e.
“At ang mahal ng mga damit, e. Aakalain mong dahil mas konti ang tela, mas mura, but no!”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
She recalls a time when she asked a friend permission to exchange the expensive clothes they gave Pepe and Pilar as gifts for other baby items, which her friend agreed to.
“Alam mo, sa isang damit na branded, nakabili ako ng tatlong kumot, maraming lampin, limang outfit. Aanuhin mo ang branded, nakakalakihan nila agad?” said the first-time mom. It's a sentiment all of us moms share!
Indeed, motherhood has become her — she even uses the hashtag #NanayNiPepeEnPilar in her posts.
When asked what her favorite part of the house is, Korina was quick to reply, “Of course, the baby room!ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
“Pag andun ka, you can forget about everything. Totoo pala yun, puwedeng lumipas ang buong araw na tinititigan mo sila.
“And you don’t want to miss a thing. Ano nga e, minsan, ayoko nang umalis ng bahay.
“I like to have many wonderful memories with Pepe and Pilar here.”
