  • Three days after Kapuso actress Kylie Padilla's pregnancy news broke out, she and her now fiancé, fellow Kapuso actor Aljur Abrenica, have finally revealed all in an exclusive interview with Pep.ph, which first broke the news about the couple's engagement and pregnancy.

Just a day after the entertainment portal reported that Kylie was three months pregnant, her management company, Vidanes Celebrity Marketing, announced the two were engaged, but it did anot address the pregnancy news. Aljur told Pep.ph that this was done without his and Kylie's consent.

"Kung kanino man dapat manggaling ang balitang ito, dapat sa aming dalawa ni Kylie, e..." he told Pep.ph. "Kahit man lang sana pasintabi, abiso sa akin, i-text man lang sana ako na sabihin or kahit ako pa ang tumawag sa kanila, e, para magpaalam man lang, puwede pa sana. Kaso wala, wala ako narinig," he continued.

The couple now reveals they have been engaged since late last year. In fact, Aljur had proposed to Kylie three times -- and she said yes to all -- but they were advised to keep it hush-hush. The first proposal happened when he and Kylie went on an impromptu trip to Japan in October 2016.

Kylie shared, "May istatwa kasi dun na Ariel bago ka pumasok sa Disney Sea, yung underwater land na Atlantica," she said, adding that she told Aljur, who didn't grow up watching Disney, that Ariel of The Little Mermaid was her favorite character. "Tapos, habang nagsasalita ako, nakatalikod ako sa kanya, akala ko nakikinig niya, hindi pala. Gusto na niya mag-propose," she said. The answer was yes, and it was the story behind Kylie's Instagram post with the caption, 'Happiest tears...'

When the two got back from their Japan trip, they decided to move in together "para makita namin kung compatible kami sa isa't-isa," Aljur explained. "Naging practical lang kame." He added that they wanted to avoid what often they've seen happens to married couples who would go their separate ways after a few years. That was in November 2016, and Aljur felt the need to propose again. He had a ring, albeit a non-traditional one, to offer Kylie.

The third proposal happened when Aljur decided to buy a proper engagement ring for Kylie. "Gusto ko namang maging proud si Kylie. May ipinagmamalaki silang singsing. Kahit wala akong trabaho ngayon, matagal na yung huling project ko sa GMA, meron naman akong naipon, bumili ako ng singsing para sa kanya," Aljur said.

Though Aljur and Kylie have been living together since October 2016, the couple didn’t expect to be pregnant right away. Kylie said she knew that she was with child even before she took a pregnancy test. Aljur insisted they go to a doctor for a second confirmation. "Nakakatuwa kasi masaya, kasi blessing yun, e," he said when asked how he felt knowing he’s going to be a dad.

    "Masaya kami," Aljur stressed.

Kylie admitted she wanted a baby. But her work commitments came to mind (she plays Sang'gre Amihan in the GMA hit teleserye Encantadia). "Hindi ko alam kung paano ko sasabihin sa management ko, sa GMA. Pero hati nga, e. Kasi masaya ako na may baby na, pero ano din... napaaga," Kylie said.

Kylie's parents reacted positively to the pregnancy news. On the same day she took the pregnancy test, Kylie called her mom, Liezl Sicangco, who is based in Queensland, Australia. Even before Kylie could tell her mom anything, she was already crying.

"Sabi ko, 'Ma, I’m pregnant. Anong gagawin ko?'" Kylie said. "Tapos, ang unang-unang sinabi ni Mama, 'Basta, anak, huwag mong ipapalaglag 'yan.' Siyempre, alam naman ni Mama sa showbiz. Sabi ko, 'Opo.'” Aljur also spoke with Liezl to assure her of his love for her daughter.

With Kylie's father, actor Robin Padilla, it almost seemed like he already had an inkling based on Kylie's telling. The two had a dinner date when Robin asked his daughter if she was ready to get married. Kylie said she was. Robin then proceeded to tell stories about married life when Kylie interrupted him to say she had something to tell her dad.

"Ano yun, anak? Buntis ka, 'no?" Robin asked. She just laughed and said, "Ang galing mo dun!" She then proceeded to show her dad the baby's ultrasound photo. "Sabi niya, 'O, anak, ha, alagaan mo 'yan,'" Kylie shared.

Aljur is looking forward to meeting his future father-in-law soon. He and Kylie tried to talk to him before moving in together, and they respected that Robin was not yet ready at that time.

The happy soon-to-be married couple is hoping the issues about the milestones in their relationship would die down so they can focus on their future.

When Kylie was asked if she’s ready to be a mom, "Alam ko kung ano yung kailangan para maging ina, feeling ko, handa na. Pero alam kong marami pa akong [dapat] matututunan along the way," she said. "Actually, nung nalaman ko pa lang na buntis ako, alam ko na kailangan ko nang mag-mature," Kylie added. "Pero ngayon, masasabi ko na naiintindihan ko na yung mga magulang ko kung bakit overprotective sila," she said.

Aljur said he just wants to show his love for their baby. He wanted their child to know his or her parents' love story, that they did not want to hide him, or they didn’t fight for him.

"Kaya ako nagsasalita ngayon, kasi gusto ko makita ng anak ko na masaya ako sa existence niya. Ipinagmamalaki ko siya, proud ako sa kanya. At gusto ko ipakita sa kanya, through this interviewna mahal na mahal ko ang nanay niya, na mahal na mahal ko siya," he said.
