Lea Salonga's daughter Nicole will Debut Onstage in Matilda The Musical
The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, at least in the case of internationally acclaimed Filipino singer Lea Salonga and her daughter, Nicole Chien. Her 11-year-old daughter will make her debut on stage as Alice in Matilda The Musical. Nicole, who has been performing in school plays since she was 5 years old, was one of 200 kids who auditioned for roles.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The doting mother shared the news on her social media accounts yesterday. "Word is finally out, and I couldn't be happier! Congratulations, Nicole!!!" Lea wrote as a caption for the link to Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group's press release. In the comments section of Lea's post, one of her Facebook friends responded with a photo (screen cap above) that showed Nic's reaction when the budding theater artist was called back after her first audition. Lea replied, "That was at her first audition day when they told her she got a callback. Callback pa lang, bongga na ang feelings."ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Adding to Lea's joy is Telesa "Esang" de Torres, one of the kids Lea mentored in The Voice Kids (Season 2), who has been cast in the titular role. She will alternately play Matilda with equally-talented girls, Felicity Kyle Napuli and Uma Martin.
The rest of the cast include Ella Gonzalez who will alternate with Nicole as Alice; Gabrielle Aerin Ong and Maria Ericka Peralejo for the role of Lavender; Denise Fidel Arteta and Chi Chi Tan for the role of Amanda; Alba Berenguer-Testa and Chantel Marie Guinid for the role of Hortensia; Josh Nubla and Miguel Suarez for the role of Bruce; Rhythm Alexander and Ian Albert Magallona for the role of Eric; Pablo Miguel Palacpac and Gabo Tiongson for the role of Nigel; and John Joseph Miraflores and Teddy Velasco for the role of Tommy.

The twins' dad is Jerika's husband, Spanish triathlete Miguel Aguilar Garcia, whom she married last August 13 after getting engaged four months earlier during a trip to Jordan. "Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up," the soon-to-be mom of three shares on Instagram, quoting a verse from the Bible (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). A little over a month ago, the former Encantadia actress labored for four days, hoping to deliver her son via water birth. Kylie's birth story, however, didn't go as planned, but motherhood has been amazing, according to the new mom. Recently, she shared photos of her childbirth, which was documented by Bearthside Photography. The new mom thanked everyone for sending the support she needed then. "It makes remembering giving birth to Alas pleasantly emotional and spiritual. I absolutely love the photos you captured. It's all so overwhelming; it's like going through the labor all over again.
