Manilyn Reynes Aljon Jimenez Prove That One True Love Is Real and LastingManilyn Reynes has been paired with other actors but she sealed her ‘forever’ with Aljon Jimenez.by Rachel Perez .
Celebrity marriages face unique pressure because of the spotlight — you cannot be caught in a tampuhan in public because it can be next day’s front page news. So you cannot help but admire celebrity relationships that last a decade. How do they do it? In the case of Manilyn Reynes and Aljon Jimenez, it seems working together, keeping things low-key (but never selfish with affection!), and a great sense of humor keep their marriage strong.
Last August 31, 2019, the singer-actress and mom of three shared a throwback photo of her with husband and manager Aljon Jimenez. It was taken in San Francisco 28 years ago when their relationship was just starting.
“This was taken in San Francisco on August 31, 1991. 28 years na today. Bago pa lang ang relationship namin dito.” Manilyn wrote. “Until now, we hold hands kahit nasaan kami, hanggang sa pag-tulog,” And the feeling’s still the same,” she shared, adding lyrics from Natalie Cole’s song More Than You’ll Ever Know.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
A few weeks back, on August 9, the 47-year-old actress shared another throwback that showed Aljon playfully putting Manilyn in a chokehold. She asked her husband to caption the photo, and he said: “I got married once, and it took one lifetime. Only once, only one.”
Cue the awww! Aljon’s reply caught Manilyn by surprise. “Oh, my heart,” she responded. “Kaya pala ako sinakal, bwahahaha!!! Pero tuwang-tuwa naman, kahit sinasakal, bwahahaha!!!,” she joked.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
In the mid to late 80s, Manilyn was the better half of two of the most popular love teams. You were either Team Janno Gibbs or Team Keempee De Leon, and both love teams had fanatics. It would be safe to say that her relationship with Aljon took many by surprise (probably because no one had a clue!)ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Manilyn and Aljon, who got together in 1991 and tied the knot in 1996, now have three sons: Kyle, 22, Kirk, 16, and Kael, 7.
The That’s Entertainment couple has been through a lot together, including opening and closing a food business (they plan to start a new one soon!) and a miscarriage in 2010. Two years later she got pregnant again, but the Kapuso star was put on bed rest for six months due to bleeding. “I had to do everything in bed. I couldn’t even sit up. I’m really thankful to my husband for taking very good care of me,” Manilyn shared in an interview with Smart Parenting.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The secrets of their long-lasting union? Manilyn, who was awarded Best Comedy Actress at the 2016 PMPC Star Awards, shared a few with Pep.ph in 2014. “You and I will always be together forever,” Manilyn wrote as a caption for a series of throwback photos she posted on Valentine’s Day 2018.
For Heart’s Day in 2019, the family celebrated in Japan. In a video taken from their trip, the couple showed what makes them work: they have the same sense of humor. (You can hear their youngest in the video say, “They’re weird”). Manilyn and Aljon also made their version of the meme “Pag lumingon ka, akin ka” in Japan.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
