'Momshie' Melai Cantiveros welcomes second child!

The Magandang Buhay co-host gave birth to her and husband Jason Francisco's second child on Sunday, April 9, at 2:54 a.m. Melai took to Instagram to announce the arrival of her baby. "Hello Philippines and hello world, galing sa amin ni BabyF," she captioned a photo of her cradling her newborn. "Thank you sa lahat ng nagdasal, nakalabas na si BabyF. Sobra saya ni Papangcutes [Jason] and [daughter] Ate Mela," Melai added. According to fan account @team_melasonforever on Instagram, the baby will be named Stela Rosalind. About a week ago, the couple’s firstborn celebrated her third birthday with a Trolls-inspired party at MilkyWay Cafe in Makati City. Queenie Padilla shares photos of her baby bump!

Queenie Padilla, who is expecting her first child with her husband, Pakistani-born Usama Mir, gave her Instagram followers a peek of her baby bump in the photos she posted from their visit to the Bahrain National Museum. Queenie is currently five months pregnant and will give birth around the same time as her younger sister Kylie in July. 

About a month ago, Queenie's husband had been given the blessing of her dad, actor Robin Padilla, and had already met with the Padilla clan. The meet-up was arranged by her Tita Mariel, Robin’s wife. "I can never forget this beautiful evening. I still feel so overwhelmed. No words can ever explain the way I feel/felt. I'm truly blessed to have a wonderful family," she captioned a group photo of her, her husband, and immediate members of the Padilla clan. She admitted to having a dark past with her dealings with her family, but as a Muslim, "I'd come to realize and deeply understand how important it is to keep my family ties strong and to never let anything (drama, grudges, resentments) get in the way of that. It's always important to remember that love for each other always prevails, and love paves a way to strong ties of kinship," Queenie wrote. (pep.ph)


Kylie hints that she's having a baby boy

When Kylie first posted her unborn child's ultrasound scan on Instagram along with a poem and the classic children's book The Little Prince, many speculated that she and fiance Aljur Abrenica are having a baby boy. 

In another poem the mom-to-be posted on Instagram, she included the line, "My little prince/I've longed for you/Ever since," which fueled the speculation even more. Last month, after Kylie and Aljur confirmed that they were expecting, Pep.ph reported that the couple is having a baby boy, but Kylie clarified that they weren't sure yet at that time. Based on clues, however, it looks like they're going to have a mini-Aljur soon. (pep.ph)

How often do you see an animated character come to life, and on our very own Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (DSA), no less? A photo posted by Twitter user @excarlabur shows a red Mitsubishi Eclipse closely resembling Lightning McQueen, a fictional character from the popular Disney film franchise Cars, plying our roads. She captioned the photo, "Casually kachow-ing on EDSA." In just a span of 15 hours, the post had a thousand likes and retweets. Who would have thought? Young offenders graduate in Davao City

Eleven young offenders, or children who have committed criminal offenses, from Davao City had a significant life milestone last week. Five boys and two girls finished grade school, while four graduated from junior high school. Could it be a sign of reform from a delinquent past? "I'm very happy. I want to be an engineer. I want to find a job so I can have a good future," 14-year-old Marco*, who was involved in riots and was addicted to smoking, told ABS-CBN News. Thirty-nine other minors who were in conflict with the law were recognized in the San Pedro Police Station's Help and Educate Project, a project of the Davao City Police office since 2012. "We are helping them to have better lives... We are looking for sponsors and other donors who can fund the education of children in conflict with the law," said station Chief Inspector Ramil Macarampat. Congratulations! (abs-cbn.com)


New Children's Road Safety Park opens in Camp Crame

The new safety park, which promotes road safety among grade school kids, offers hands-on experiences to learn about road safety and road courtesy. The park features a gasoline station, pedestrian lane, a lagoon, and bigger-than-life sculptures of Iron Man, Superman, Hulk, Captain America, Spiderman, Minions, Wonder Woman, among others. It also has an open space with a driving lane that winds across multiple traffic markers and instructional signages. "Napaka-helpful nito dahil summer ngayon, yung mga bata walang ginagawa, gusto ng mga bata nasa labas, magbakasyon, field trip. They will enjoy this park and, at the same time, they will learn dahil ‘yun nga, educational ito. Matututo sila about traffic signs, laws," Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa said in an interview after he and his wife Nancy led the inauguration ceremony. 

According to Chief Supt Gilbert Cruz, head of Police Community Relations Group, it's better for kids to learn road safety while young. "Mas maganda habang bata pa maituro na natin yung tama. Nai-instill at madali silang nakaka-absorb kasi especially yung pagpasok ng seven years old pataas, na-absorb na nila kung ano yung itinuturo," He said.
