More Filipino families are going beyond required contributions and choosing to save extra through government-backed programs, based on the latest report from the Pag-IBIG Fund. In 2025, voluntary savings from members reach P93.60 billion and account for 58% of total collections, now making up the biggest share of overall member savings.

MP2 Contributions Push Pag-IBIG Savings to Record P160.41B

Total member savings climb to a record P160.41 billion in 2025, up 21% from the previous year and the highest in the agency’s history. The increase comes from both mandatory monthly contributions and a strong rise in voluntary deposits, particularly through the Modified Pag-IBIG II (MP2) Savings Program.

Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary and Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees Chair Jose Ramon Aliling says the higher collections show continued member trust in the program.

“Once again, our strong collections reflect the trust and confidence our members place in Pag-IBIG’s savings programs,” Aliling said. “With P27.61 billion more savings collected in 2025 compared to the previous year, Pag-IBIG Fund’s solid financial position enables us to continue offering low-interest rates and to support the financing requirements of the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.”

Of the total savings collected last year, mandatory monthly contributions reach P66.80 billion. Voluntary savings, or funds saved by members beyond the required contributions, exceed the required contributions and account for the larger share of P93.60 billion.

Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta says the numbers point to a stronger saving culture among members.

“Our members are saving more voluntarily, to the point that voluntary savings have already surpassed mandatory contributions,” Acosta said. “This is very encouraging because it shows that the culture of saving for the future remains strong among Pag-IBIG members.”

She notes that members’ additional monthly contributions reach P10.09 billion, as more people choose to save above the required P200 monthly contribution. She links this to growing appreciation of Pag-IBIG Fund’s savings programs and its track record of competitive dividend rates.

Confidence in the MP2 Savings Program also continues to grow. Collections under MP2 reach P83.51 billion in 2025, making it the main driver behind voluntary savings growth. The program is open to active members as well as retirees and pensioners, which makes it useful for families planning across different life stages.

“We are very pleased that MP2 Savings continues to encourage more Filipino workers to set aside money for their future,” Acosta said. “Through this program, we have helped our members appreciate the value of disciplined saving by offering a secure and rewarding savings option aligned with their short-term goals.”

Acosta adds that many MP2 savers, particularly retirees and pensioners, now refer to themselves as “LODI,” or “Living on Dividends,” as they use their annual returns to help cover daily expenses.

Moreover, more Filipino workers are able to buy, build, or improve their homes as Pag-IBIG Fund released P140.54 billion in housing loans in 2025, an 8% increase from P129.73 billion in 2024. This milestone helped 90,727 members nationwide, giving families the means to secure decent and affordable housing.

What Is the MP2 Savings Program?

The Modified Pag‑IBIG II (MP2) Savings Program is a voluntary savings option under the Pag-IBIG Fund that lets members save extra above their regular contributions and earn higher, tax‑free annual dividends. It requires a minimum contribution of about P500 per payment and has a five‑year maturity period, after which members can withdraw their savings and dividends or open a new MP2 account.
