  • MRT-3 management assures everyone that, yes, the train line takes keeping people safe from COVID-19 seriously.

    In case you missed it, commuters were up in arms over the weekend after a video of MRT-3 cleaning staff “disinfecting” train cars in a not-so-thorough fashion surfaced online.

     In response, MRT-3 management says it will reprimand those involved in the viral cleanup video and says there will not be a repeat of the incident. Look:

    “We are assuring the riding public that matters have been taken to prevent a repeat of that unfortunate incident and that the personnel involved are now facing disciplinary action,” the agency said over the DOTr MRT-3 official Facebook page.

    “The MRT-3 management will not tolerate any breach of health protocols as we stem the spread of COVID-19 while serving the daily transportation needs of commuters.”

    According to MRT-3 management, the cleaning staff has been reminded to maintain focus and take extra care when disinfecting train cars.

    Earlier today, the DOTr MRT-3 Facebook page released a video showing how the disinfecting process is really done. Watch:

    Along with a video, MRT-3 described the disinfection process the trains regularly go through, adding it is based on the “7-minute miracle cleaning protocol” of Shinkansen trains in Japan.

    Here is the full statement that came with the video:

    “Mahigpit na ipinatutupad ng pamunuan ng MRT-3 ang masinsinang disinfection at sanitation protocols, dalawang beses kada dating ng mga tren sa magkabilang dulong mga istasyon ng North Avenue at Taft.

    “Pulidong nililinis ang mga handstrap, handrail at mga upuan ng bawat bagon sa loob ng 5 minuto, na base sa 7-minute miracle cleaning protocol ng Shinkansen trains ng Japan.

    “Regular din ang paglilinis sa iba pang mga pasilidad ng MRT-3, kabilang na ang elevators, escalators, at restrooms.

    “Ang regular na pagdidisinfect ay kabilang sa 7 commandments na ipinatutupad ng rail line, ayon sa rekomendasyon ng mga eksperto sa kalusugan:

    • Palagiang pagsusuot ng face mask at face shield
    • Bawal magsalita at makipag-usap sa telepono.
    • Bawal kumain.
    • Pagkakaroon ng sapat maayos na ventilation sa mga PUV.
    • Bawal sumakay ang mga pasaherong mayroong sintomas ng COVID-19 sa pampublikong transportasyon.
    • Laging sundin ang panuntunan sa appropriate physical distancing.
