Nickelodeon is encouraging children from across the world to cast their votes for the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA). Voting for the 2012 KCAs spans over six continents across 13 localized voting sites in 10 different languages, giving kids practically everywhere the chance to decide who takes home the coveted orange blimps.
The annual event, which will be held on March 31 at the University of Southern California Galen Center in L.A., will be aired in the Philippines on April 14, at 10:00 a.m. Hosted by Will Smith, the awards show will feature a powerhouse roster of celebrity presenters and performers, including Chris Rock, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Zac Efron, Heidi Klum, Victoria Justice, Miranda Cosgrove, Big Time Rush, Chris Colfer and Cee Lo Green, as well as recently announced performers One Direction and Katy Perry. Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2012 will be the most global version yet with the launch of the new international category, Favorite Asian Act.
Nominees for the Favorite Asian Act category include Filipino singing sensation Charice who continues to take the international entertainment scene by storm. The 19-year-old is the Philippines’ bet, and is up against other popular music acts from the region, South Korea’s The Wonder Girls, Malaysia’s Yuna, and Indonesia’s Agnes Monica.
Charice rose to worldwide popularity through her widely viewed YouTube videos, which garnered millions of hits and led to her numerous appearances on US-based TV programs The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Her self-titled international album released in May 2010 reached the eighth spot on the Billboard 200 Album Chart on its first week, making Charice the first Asian artist to enter the Top 10. The singer has also dabbled in acting and has a recurring role in the hit musical-drama series Glee as Sunshine Corazon, the foreign exchange student with a big voice. Nicksters can still cast their votes for Charice until March 31, by logging on to kca.nick-asia.com/vote.
