Online registration for the national ID will start today, April 30, 2021, says the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Through the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys, Filipinos are given a valid proof of identity containing basic information and added security functions such as biometrics. The ID comes in physical and digital formats, and members of the system can use their unique PhilSys number as proof of identity.
The national ID will be accepted for bank account applications, receipt of aid, and other identity verification processes. Processings also for said documents is expected to be faster once the centralized ID system is in place.
The online registration portal is at https://register.philsys.gov.ph
Check back again in a few days if you keep encountering an error. It happened to us when we tried it today, its first day.
When SmartParenting.com.ph checked on Facebook, PSA said, "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Our technical team is currently figuring out the source of the problem. We will provide updates as soon as the website is up and running. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."
At the online registration, you will be asked the following details:
Information like marital status, mobile phone number, and e-mail address will also have to be submitted.
After submitting your information, you will be asked to set an appointment at a registration center of your choice. Yes, physical appearance is required.
On your appointment, don't forget to bring your transaction number from the online registration.
You have to undergo fingerprint and iris scans, a front-facing photograph, and validation of supporting documents at a registration center. This is to ascertain your identity presented in the first step.

Your unique PhilSys Number (PSN) and physical ID will be delivered to your doorstep once done.
Do not post photos of your ID or number on social media as it contains personal information.
