  • Nikka Garcia opens up about miscarriage

The mom of two is finding that sharing her story of grief through her blog is helping her cope with the recent loss of their baby. She recounts that when she found out she was pregnant last January 23, she and Patrick were so excited to share the good news; however, a day before they were supposed to make the announcement, Nikka experienced some spotting. While she was not too alarmed, she nevertheless consulted with her OB-gyn. “We went for [an] ultrasound and our excitement quickly turned into sorrow. Pat and I found out that our baby’s heartbeat had already stopped, which is the cause of my bleeding,” Nikka said. “I guess we will never understand why things are the way they are. We just lift it up to Him who does,” she added.

The next day, Nikka started to experience labor, which is something new to her since she gave  birth to her two daughters via C-section. She started counting contraction intervals, all the while shaking and delirious from the pain. “I was bleeding non- stop. I cannot even begin to describe how scared I was. I stood up from my bathroom floor to grab a pillow to hold on to, and when I struggled to stand up, my baby came out of me,” she continued. “I held my baby in the palm of my hand. I cleaned him/her. At this time, I remember asking forgiveness from my baby. I just kept saying that I was sorry. I grabbed the first box I could get and placed my baby inside before I passed out from exhaustion,” Nikka wrote.

She woke up to Patrick’s hug. “No words spoken. Just the tightest hugs that assured and gave comfort. We cried together. We prayed together. It was painful. It was heartbreaking. It is probably the hardest thing I have ever experienced in my life. We had just lost our baby. Our little Bean,” said Nikka. The next morning, they buried their little one, Baby B. “I wish no parent will ever experience burying their offspring. Ever,” she said. Nikka reminds herself it’s okay not to be okay. “Just remember you have two beautiful girls and a husband who needs you. Stay strong for them… you need to move on, one step at a time,” she said (pep.ph)

Despie what she just went through with estranged husband Timothy Tan, the Kapuso actress is keeping an open mind about marriage. “I wouldn’t say anything bad or wrong just because I went through some difficulties with my marriage,” she said. “Who am I to tell them not to do something or advise them na parang mag-ingat? Choice nila yun,” Sunshine said. She is currently starring in the GMA teleserye Ika-6 Na Utos, where she plays a character who has gone through a similar situation as she recently did in real life. “I think everyday is a choice, you just push through or not. Ako I just push forward. Wala naman akong ibang aasahan kung hindi sarili ko lang din, so better make something of yourself and do better,” she shares. Sunshine added that her priority is her kids. “As long as my kids are doing well and okay, I’m fine,” she adds. (pep.ph)

WATCH: First trailer for non-Disney The Little Mermaid movie

The non-Disney live-action version of The Little Mermaid just debuted and it looks promising. The film is based on Hans Christian Andersen's book, and instead of the movie being set under the sea, it happens between the late 1800s and the early 1900s on land where the half-human, half-fish heroine’s soul is trapped by a sorcerer as a main attraction for his circus. However, a little girl “with the heart of a mermaid” comes to rescue with the help of her big brother, a journalist, when they traveled to Mississipi to find a woman believed to be the real mermaid. Blake Harris and Chris Bouchard direct the film which stars Shirley MacLaine, Poppy Drayton (Downton Abbey), William Moseley (The Chronicles of Narnia), Loreto Peralta, and Gina Gershon. The Little Mermaid is planned to be released this year. (deadline.com)

The Facebook CEO announced on Thursday via the largest social media platform online that he and his wife, pediatrician Dr. Priscilla Chan, are expecting their second child, another baby girl. Their 15-month-old daughter is going to be a big sister! “After our difficult experience having Max, we weren't sure what to expect or whether we'd be able to have another child. When Priscilla and I first found out she was pregnant again, our first hope was that the child would be healthy. My next hope was that it would be a girl. I cannot think of a greater gift than having a sister and I'm so happy Max and our new child will have each other,” Mark wrote. The announcement was a touching tribute to sisterly love. Mark grew up with three sisters while Priscilla had two. “We are all better people because of the strong women in our lives -- sisters, mothers and friends. We can't wait to welcome our new little one and do our best to raise another strong woman,” he said. (people.com)
